[Termes IGN] traitement de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Mobile in-situ sensor platforms such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles can be used in environmental monitoring. In time-critical monitoring scenarios as for example in emergency response, and in the exploration of highly dynamic phenomena, obtaining the relevant data with one or few mobile sensors is challenging. It requires an intelligent sampling strategy that integrates prior information and adapts to the dynamics of the observed phenomenon, based on the collected sensor data. Available information about the observed phenomenon may be incomplete or imprecise and therefore insufficient for quantitative modeling. We address this problem by reasoning about the plume movement and size on a qualitative level and present an algorithm for tracking a dynamic plume that integrates this qualitative information with the collected sensor data. We evaluate our algorithm using simulated data sets of three different moving and expanding gas plumes. By means of simulations we show that the qualitative methods can be used to infer new information about the properties of a moving plume and to adapt the sensor movement for tracking the plume. Both can be done with low computational effort, without absolute positioning capability of the sensor, and with less input information than required by quantitative approaches. [Termes IGN] rayonnement proche infrarougeRésumé : (Auteur) A modified version of the MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) algorithm is presented for use in the angular normalization of surface reflectance data gathered by the Spinning Enhanced Visible and InfraRed Imager (SEVIRI) aboard the geostationary Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) satellites. We present early and provisional daily nadir BRDF-adjusted reflectance (NBAR) data in the visible and near-infrared MSG channels. These utilize the high temporal resolution of MSG to produce BRDF retrievals with a greatly reduced acquisition period than the comparable MODIS products while, at the same time, removing many of the angular perturbations present within the original MSG data. The NBAR data are validated against reflectance data from the MODIS instrument and in situ data gathered at a field location in Africa throughout 2008. It is found that the MSG retrievals are stable and are of high-quality across much of the SEVIRI disk while maintaining a higher temporal resolution than the MODIS BRDF products. However, a number of circumstances are discovered whereby the BRDF model is unable to function correctly with the SEVIRI observations-primarily because of an insufficient spread of angular data due to the fixed sensor location or localized cloud contamination. Les chercheurs et industriels réunis fin juin lors du colloque scientifique sur les moyens légers aéroportés d'observation ont montré qu'il y a encore beaucoup à en attendre. [Termes IGN] traitement automatique d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) An innovative methodology that combines central perspectives and panoramic gnomonic projections into an integrated bundle block adjustment is discussed. The use of both kinds of images generates metric products with a superior level of detail (image resolution) compared with conventional central perspectives alone, whilst achieving the accuracy of the latter. The entire methodology is intended as a low-cost solution to improving the ground sampling distance over that achievable with single exposures by conventional modern terrestrial cameras. Very high-resolution close-range images can be automatically generated and oriented with a rigorous multi-step procedure that integrates both types of images within a unified least squares adjustment. The advantages and disadvantages of the proposed approach are analysed from both theoretical and practical points of view and illustrated through a series of examples.
