[Termes IGN] topographieRésumé : (Auteur) L’arrivée de récepteurs bas-coût performants sur le marché a bousculé certains a priori sur ces matériels et remobilisé les utilisateurs autour de la notion de test d’un appareil de mesure GNSS. Dans ce contexte, nous proposons d’explorer plusieurs méthodes d’évaluation des récepteurs GNSS. Nous nous focalisons sur les performances de positionnement, même si, aujourd’hui, une composante importante de la qualité d’un récepteur se trouve aussi dans son accessibilité, sa facilité d’utilisation et la capacité à toucher différents métiers, notamment certaines corporations qui ne sont pas nécessairement formées aux spécificités de la précision, du traitement du signal, ou de la géodésie. Les performances de positionnement restent relativement simples à évaluer, car nous avons accès facilement à des grandeurs mesurables permettant de le faire, contrairement à d’autres critères importants pour l’utilisateur final, comme l’ergonomie ou la facilité d’utilisation. [Termes IGN] surveillance géologiqueRésumé : (auteur) The problem involving the monitoring of surface ground movements in post-mining areas is particularly important during the period of mine closures. During or after flooding of a mine, mechanical properties of the rock mass may be impaired, and this may trigger subsidence, surface landslides, uplift, sinkholes or seismic activity. It is, therefore, important to examine and select updating methods and plans for long-term monitoring of post-mining areas to mitigate seismic hazards or surface deformation during and after mine closure. The research assumed the implementation of continuous monitoring of surface movements using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) in the area of a closed hard coal mine ‘Kazimierz-Juliusz’, located in Poland. In order to ensure displacement measurement results with the accuracy of several millimetres, the accuracy of multi-GNSS observations carried out in real time as a combination of four global navigation systems, Global Positioning System (GPS), Globalnaja Navigacionnaja Sputnikova Sistema (GLONASS), Galileo and BeiDou, was determined. The article presents the results of empirical research conducted at four reference points. The test observations were made in variants comprising measurements based on: GPS, GPS and GLONASS systems, GPS, GLONASS and Galileo systems, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou systems. For each adopted solution, daily measurement sessions were performed using the RTK technique. The test results were subjected to accuracy analyses. Based on the obtained results, it was found that GNSS measurements should be carried out with the use of three navigation systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo), as an optimal solution for the needs of continuous geodetic monitoring in the area of the study. [Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (auteur) Along-strike variation in the geometry of lithospheric structures is a key control parameter for the occurrence and propagation of major interplate earthquakes in subduction and collision zones. The lateral segmentation of the Himalayan arc is now well-established from various observations, including topography, gravity anomalies, exhumation rates, and present-day seismic activity. Good knowledge of the main geometric features of these segments and their boundaries is thus the next step to improve seismic hazard assessment in this area. Following recent studies, we focus our approach on the transition zone between Nepal and Bhutan where both M > 8 earthquakes and changes in the geometry of the Indian plate have been documented. Ground gravity data sets are combined with satellite gravity gradients provided by the GOCE mission (Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer) in a joint inversion to assess the location and the geometry of this transition. We obtain a ca. 10 km wide transition zone located at the western border of Bhutan that is aligned with the Madhupur fault in the foreland and coincides with the Dhubri–Chungthang fault zone and the Yadong-Gulu rift in Himalaya and southern Tibet, respectively. This sharp segment boundary at depth can act as a barrier to earthquake rupture propagation. It can possibly restrict the size of large earthquakes and thus reduce the occurrence probability of M > 9 earthquakes along the Main Himalayan Thrust. [Termes IGN] récepteur GPSRésumé : (auteur) The Sentinel-6 (or Jason-CS) altimetry mission provides a long-term extension of the Topex and Jason-1/2/3 missions for ocean surface topography monitoring. Analysis of altimeter data relies on highly-accurate knowledge of the orbital position and requires radial RMS orbit errors of less than 1.5 cm. For precise orbit determination (POD), the Sentinel-6A spacecraft is equipped with a dual-constellation GNSS receiver. We present the results of Sentinel-6A POD solutions for the first 6 months since launch and demonstrate a 1-cm consistency of ambiguity-fixed GPS-only and Galileo-only solutions with the dual-constellation product. A similar performance (1.3 cm 3D RMS) is achieved in the comparison of kinematic and reduced-dynamic orbits. While Galileo measurements exhibit 30–50% smaller RMS errors than those of GPS, the POD benefits most from the availability of an increased number of satellites in the combined dual-frequency solution. Considering obvious uncertainties in the pre-mission calibration of the GNSS receiver antenna, an independent inflight calibration of the phase centers for GPS and Galileo signal frequencies is required. As such, Galileo observations cannot provide independent scale information and the estimated orbital height is ultimately driven by the employed forces models and knowledge of the center-of-mass location within the spacecraft. Using satellite laser ranging (SLR) from selected high-performance stations, a better than 1 cm RMS consistency of SLR normal points with the GNSS-based orbits is obtained, which further improves to 6 mm RMS when adjusting site-specific corrections to station positions and ranging biases. For the radial orbit component, a bias of less than 1 mm is found from the SLR analysis relative to the mean height of 13 high-performance SLR stations. Overall, the reduced-dynamic orbit determination based on GPS and Galileo tracking is considered to readily meet the altimetry-related Sentinel-6 mission needs for RMS height errors of less than 1.5 cm. [Termes IGN] teneur intégrée en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) This study investigates the sensitivity of the GNSSseg segmentation method to change in: GNSS data processing method, length of time series (17 to 25 years), auxiliary data used in the integrated water vapor (IWV) conversion, and reference time series used in the segmentation (ERA-Interim versus ERA5). Two GNSS data sets (IGS repro1 and CODE REPRO2015), representative of the first and second IGS reprocessing, were compared. Significant differences were found in the number and positions of detected change-points due to different a priori ZHD models, antenna/radome calibrations, and mapping functions. The more recent models used in the CODE solution have reduced noise and allow the segmentation to detect smaller offsets. Similarly, the more recent reanalysis ERA5 has reduced representativeness errors, improved quality compared to ERA-Interim, and achieves higher sensitivity of the segmentation. Only 45–50% of the detected change-points are similar between the two GNSS data sets or between the two reanalyses, compared to 70–80% when the length of the time series or the auxiliary data are changed. About 35% of the change-points are validated with respect to metadata. The uncertainty in the homogenized trends is estimated to be around 0.01–0.02 kg m−2 year−1.
