[Termes IGN] teneur en carboneRésumé : (auteur) Phytoplankton carbon, an important biogeochemical and ecological parameter, plays a critical role in the carbon cycle and in global warming reduction. Estimation of phytoplankton carbon in inland waters on a large scale using remote sensing is useful for understanding, evaluating, and monitoring the carbon dynamics, and, in particular, for determining the spatial–temporal variation of primary production in inland waters. In a correlation analysis of the phytoplankton carbon concentration and water components, the result revealed no significant correlation between the chlorophyll-a concentration and phytoplankton carbon concentration in inland waters. However, the absorption peak height of particles at 675 nm, which is defined as the absorption at 675 nm subtracted by that at 660 nm, was found to be closely correlated with the phytoplankton carbon concentration. Thus, the absorption peak height of particles at 675 nm could be used as an indicator of the phytoplankton carbon concentration. A semianalytical method based on the remote-sensing reflectance in Sentinel-3 Ocean and Land Color Instrument (OLCI) bands 8, 9, and 17 was developed to derive the absorption peak of particles at a wavelength of 675 nm. Finally, an algorithm for estimating the phytoplankton carbon concentration in inland waters using OLCI bands 8, 9, and 17 was constructed. From 2013 to 2018, eight field campaigns were conducted in inland lakes in different seasons, and the optical properties, optically active water components, and phytoplankton carbon concentrations were obtained. An assessment of its accuracy using an independent data set demonstrated that the algorithm performance is acceptable (mean absolute percentage error, 48.6%, and root mean square error, 0.36 mg/L). As a demonstration, the algorithm was successfully applied to map the phytoplankton carbon concentration in Taihu Lake and Chaohu Lake, China, using OLCI images acquired on December 5, 2017, and August 5, 2018 and December 8, 2... There are two popular approaches to predict criminal activities: one is based on historical crime, and the other is based on environmental variables correlated with criminal patterns. Previous research on geo-statistical modeling mainly considered one type of data in space-time domain, and few sought to blend multi-source data. In this research, we proposed a spatio-temporal Cokriging algorithm to integrate historical crime data and urban transitional zones for more accurate crime prediction. Time-series historical crime data were used as the primary variable, while urban transitional zones identified from the VIIRS nightlight imagery were used as the secondary co-variable. The algorithm has been applied to predict weekly-based street crime and hotspots in Cincinnati, Ohio. Statistical tests and Predictive Accuracy Index (PAI) and Predictive Efficiency Index (PEI) tests were used to validate predictions in comparison with those of the control group without using the co-variable. The validation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm with historical crime data and urban transitional zones increased the correlation coefficient by 5.4% for weekdays and by 12.3% for weekends in statistical tests, and gained higher hit rates measured by PAI/PEI in the hotspots test. [Termes IGN] surface cultivéeRésumé : (auteur) SVM and RF are widely used in rice mapping. However, their performance with single and different combinations of satellite datasets is rarely reported. Hence we report their rice mapping accuracies for two seasons using Sentinel-1A, Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2A images. The VH and VV polarizations of Sentinel-1A, and two spectral indices (SIs) of Landsat-8 and Sentine1-2A were used to obtain seven datasets (VH, VV, SI, VHVV, VHSI, VVSI and VHVVSI), and on which SVM and RF were applied and accuracies were assessed. VHSI showed the highest overall accuracy for both algorithms in both years. SVM with VHSI had a slightly higher accuracy (90.8%) than RF with VHSI (89.2%) in 2015 while in 2016 RF with VHSI showed a slightly higher accuracy (95.2%) than SVM with VHSI (93.4%). Although they produced equivalent accuracies within years, RF is more sensitive to additional data, given a 6.0% increase from 2015 to 2016 with VHSI. [Termes IGN] réflectance spectraleRésumé : (auteur) Remote sensing has potential in studies of the benthic habitat and extracting the reflectance from the data of multispectral sensors, but traditional image classification techniques cannot provide coral habitat maps with adequate accuracy. This study tested five traditional and three ensemble classification techniques on QuickBird for mapping the benthic composition of coral reefs on the Lang Tengah Island (Malaysia). The common techniques, minimum distance, maximum likelihood, K-nearest neighbour, Fisher and parallelepiped techniques were compared with ensemble classifiers, such as majority voting (MV), simple averaging, and mode combination. The per-class accuracy of the habitat detection improved in the ensemble classifiers; in particular, the MV classifier achieved 95%, 65%, 75% and 95% accuracies for coral, sparse coral, coral rubble and sand, respectively. Ensembles increased the accuracy of the habitat mapping classification by 28%, relative to conventional techniques. Thus, the ensemble techniques can be preferred over the traditional for benthic habitat mapping. The main objective is to estimate the spatial pattern of annual soil erosion rate and sediment yield using Remote Sensing and GIS technique which are promising and cost-effective tools for mapping critical areas. To calculate the soil erosion and sediment yield different spatial data sets were utilized such as rainfall, soil texture, topography, land use land cover etc. Obtained result of soil erosion and sediment yield was validated using field check using Baronda CWC Observatory data. It is found that, RUSLE model for soil erosion and MUSLE model for sediment yield has been found to be most reliable for the study area.
