[Termes IGN] volcanRésumé : (Auteur) Aerial digital photogrammetry and laser scanning (lidar) and marine multibeam bathymetry can play a fundamental role in the generation of digital terrain models (DTMs) of land and submarine areas, respectively. Integrating these survey techniques is crucial for providing accurate and homogeneous DTMs along narrow coastal zones that often cannot be adequately surveyed owing to logistical limitations on collecting bathymetric data in shallow water. In this project, three aerial photogrammetric surveys, two multibeam bathymetric surveys and a lidar survey were analysed and integrated in the same reference system in order to generate the first 3D high resolution “digital terrain and marine model” (DTMM) of the volcanic island of Panarea (Aeolian Islands, Italy). This is a volcanically active area that underwent a submarine gas eruption in November 2002, and produced impacts on the environment as well as potential hazards for the local population. The DTMM shows the morphological features of this volcanic area with an average grid resolution of 1 m and a maximum elevation error of 1 m. This model will significantly improve geophysical and geomorphological studies of this volcanic island and assist in reducing future hazards. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) Three-dimensional building models are often now produced from lidar and photogrammetric data. The quality control of these models is a relevant issue both from the scientific and practical points of view. This work presents a method for the quality control of such models. The input model (3D building data) is co-registered to the verification data using a 3D surface matching method. The 3D surface matching evaluates the Euclidean distances between the verification and input data-sets. The Euclidean distances give appropriate metrics for the 3D model quality. This metric is independent of the method of data capture. The proposed method can favorably address the reference system accuracy, positional accuracy and completeness. Three practical examples of the method are provided for demonstration. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a novel linear registration algorithm for lidar point clouds and aerial images without orientation parameters. First, preprocessing is conducted to classify the lidar point clouds into ground points, building points, and aboveground, non-building points. After preprocessing, the algorithm consists of two sequential steps, i.e., Tilt Displacement Correction and Height Displacement Correction. As the kernel of the proposed registration algorithm, the mathematical model for Height Displacement Correction is a set of linear formulas analytically deduced from the rigorous geometric function of a single image. The proposed registration algorithm does not require any orientation parameters for the image, which greatly lowers the requirements for image acquisition. Due to the model's linearity, the proposed algorithm is computationally efficient. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can register aerial images without orientation parameters at the same accuracy level of space resection based on collinear equations. This result fulfills the requirement for the fusion of lidar range data and aerial images in most large-scale urban modeling applications.
