[Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (Auteur) Geostatistical methods make it possible to estimate the random errors in digital terrain models (DTMs) from one single set of measurements. After average interpolating trend removal, the error is derived from the variogram of the residual data set. This method is compared with a procedure that uses triangulation and resampling of two overlapping DTMs for extracting the error component. Eighteen small areas measured with a multibeam echo sounder are selected for the comparison. In the experiment the two methods come out with similar values for the random error. A by-product of the experiment is the development of a model for the average noise reduction caused by resampling of triangle models (TINs). The method we apply for the trend computation has time complexity O(n). Since the noise computation only requires the part of the variogram close to the origin, it is possible to formulate the computation of the random error in DTMs in O(n) time. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Editeur) Turkey has a rich archaelogical and cultural heritage. However, a lack of experts in terrestrial survey, combined with technical deficiencies, result in inadequate documentation of heritage sites. Poorly operated terrestrial survey-restoration, documentation and reconstruction works may degrade cultural heritage rather than conserve it. Photogrammetry and GIS provide an efficient solution, as evidenced by the present authors using Hurmalik Bath site at Patara as a case. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) A terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) allows the generation of a detailed model of a landslide surface. In this way, when two or more georeferenced models obtained by multi-temporal scans are available, the landslide displacement field can be computed. Nevertheless, such a computation is a relatively complex task because the recognition of correspondences among the multi-temporal models is required. The Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm allows the alignment of two 3D objects having a common part by iterative shape matching. A new method for the automatic calculation of a landslide displacement field is presented here. It is based on a piecewise application of the ICP algorithm and is made possible by the robustness of this algorithm against noise and small morphological modifications. After a series of numerical experimentations, this method was successfully applied to two test sites located in the North-Eastern Italian Alps affected by high-risk landslides of the slump type (Perarolo di Cadore and Lamosano) with very different observational conditions. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we describe the evaluation of a method for building detection by the Dempster–Shafer fusion of airborne laser scanner (ALS) data and multi-spectral images. For this purpose, ground truth was digitised for two test sites with quite different characteristics. Using these data sets, the heuristic models for the probability mass assignments are validated and improved, and rules for tuning the parameters are discussed. The sensitivity of the results to the most important control parameters of the method is assessed. Further we evaluate the contributions of the individual cues used in the classification process to determine the quality of the results. Applying our method with a standard set of parameters on two different ALS data sets with a spacing of about 1 point/m2, 95% of all buildings larger than 70 m2 could be detected and 95% of all detected buildings larger than 70 m2 were correct in both cases. Buildings smaller than 30 m2 could not be detected. The parameters used in the method have to be appropriately defined, but all except one (which must be determined in a training phase) can be determined from meaningful physical entities. Our research also shows that adding the multi-spectral images to the classification process improves the correctness of the results for small residential buildings by up to 20%.
