[Termes IGN] triangulation (topologie)Résumé : (auteur) Querying visible points is a fundamental problem in computational geometry and spatial databases. With the development of new applications such as trip planning and nearest neighbors, querying visible points plays a key role in obstacle space and the result can be further used such as defining the shortest path. Thereby, efficiently finding the result is essentially important. However, the performance of current methods decrease substantially for large datasets. To solve the problem, we proposes a new and fast algorithm to find visible points for an arbitrary query location inside a large polygon containing obstacles. The method is based on polygon triangulation. By decomposing the polygon into a set of triangles, we manage the polygon by organizing triangles in an efficient way instead of maintaining a large number of vertices. We propose a data structure to partition the searching space into several parts, each of which is independently processed. Afterwards, by recursively calling a method we search visible points by accessing triangles and return the result in a progressive way. Through a theoretical analysis, assuming the polygon contains N vertices in total, the time complexity of our algorithm is O(N), improving the existing method O(N l o g N). We prove the correctness of the algorithm and analyze the space complexity, which is O(N). The technique is extended to return visible points less than a threshold distance to the query location. Using both synthetic and real datasets, we perform extensive experiments to test our algorithm and demonstrate its efficiency and effectiveness. Visible points are efficiently processed in a large obstacle space with over one million vertices. Experimental results show that our technique gains more than one order of magnitude speedup compared to competitive methods using large datasets. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (auteur) The large number of commonly available geographical data sets means that users of this data face a difficult choice in selecting the set that best meets their requirements. In theory, metadata is helpful in this, but many studies suggest that the metadata created by data producers is incomprehensible to average users. The article aims to identify the essential information that users need to acquire the geographical data set that fits their needs. This information is then compared with the information that users can obtain from metadata, product data specifications, and the data itself. As a result of a survey the most important data quality elements were identified, as well as some information pertinent to users that is missing in metadata. The users stressed that a lack of value for optional attributes considerably decreases the informative value and fitness for use of existing data sets. This was also observed while analyzing the building thematic data layer, which is a part of The Polish National Topographic Database. The research shows that data quality is diversified within a database, and it may happen that for some subsets of data, quality criteria are not met. Finally, two data quality subelements – optional attribute and void value - were proposed, which will overcome some difficulties in assessing the fitness for use of data. [Termes IGN] théorie de Dempster-ShaferRésumé : (auteur) Nowadays geographic vector data is produced both by public and private institutions using well defined specifications or crowdsourcing via Web 2.0 mapping portals. As a result, multiple representations of the same real world objects exist, without any links between these different representations. This becomes an issue when integration, updates, or multi-level analysis needs to be performed, as well as for data quality assessment. In this paper a multi-criteria data matching approach allowing the automatic definition of links between identical features is proposed. The originality of the approach is that the process is guided by an explicit representation and fusion of knowledge from various sources. Moreover the imperfection (imprecision, uncertainty, and incompleteness) is explicitly modeled in the process. Belief theory is used to represent and fuse knowledge from different sources, to model imperfection, and make a decision. Experiments are reported on real data coming from different producers, having different scales and either representing relief (isolated points) or road networks (linear data).
