[Termes IGN] SOLAPRésumé : (Auteur) Although many real world phenomena are vague and characterized by having uncertain location or vague shape, existing spatial data warehouse models do not support spatial vagueness and then cannot properly represent these phenomena. In this paper, we propose the VSCube conceptual model to represent and manipulate shape vagueness in spatial data warehouses, allowing the analysis of business scores related to vague spatial data, and therefore improving the decision-making process. Our VSCube conceptual model is based on the cube metaphor and supports geometric shapes and the corresponding membership values, thus providing more expressiveness to represent vague spatial data. We also define vague spatial aggregation functions (e.g. vague spatial union) and vague spatial predicates to enable vague SOLAP queries (e.g. intersection range queries). Finally, we introduce the concept of vague SOLAP and its operations (e.g. drill-down and roll-up). We demonstrate the applicability of our model by describing an application concerning pest control in agriculture and by discussing the reuse of existing models in the VSCube conceptual model. [Termes IGN] SOLAPRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes a novel, probabilistic data model and algebra that improves the modeling and querying of uncertain data in spatial OLAP (SOLAP) to support location-based services. Data warehouses that support location-based services need to combine complex hierarchies, such as road networks or transportation infrastructures, with static and dynamic content, e.g., speed limits and vehicle positions, respectively. Both the hierarchies and the content are often uncertain in real-world applications. Our model supports the use of probability distributions within both facts and dimensions. We give an algebra that correctly aggregates uncertain data over uncertain hierarchies. This paper also describes an implementation of the model and algebra, gives a complexity analysis of the algebra, and reports on an empirical, experimental evaluation of the implementation. The work is motivated with a real-world case study, based on our collaboration with a leading Danish vendor of location-based services. [Termes IGN] traitement automatique de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Let S be a set of n points in a fixed axis-parallel rectangle R Í R2 , i.e. in the two-dimensional space (2D). Assuming that those points are stored in an R-tree, this paper presents several algorithms for finding the empty rectangle in R with the largest area, sides parallel to the axes of the space, and containing only a query point q. This point can not be part of S, that is, it is not stored in the R-tree. All algorithms follow the basic idea of discarding part of the points of S, in such a way that the problem can be solved only considering the remaining points. As a consequence, the algorithms only have to access a very small portion of the nodes (disk blocks) of the R-tree, saving main memory resources and computation time. We provide formal proofs of the correctness of our algorithms and, in order to evaluate the performance of the algorithms, we run an extensive set of experiments using synthetic and real data. The results have demonstrated the efficiency and scalability of our algorithms for different dataset configurations. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) An important problem faced by national mapping agencies is frequent map updates. An ideal solution is only updating the large-scale map with other smaller scale maps undergoing automatic updates. This process may involve a series of operators, among which selective omission has received much attention. This study focuses on selective omission in a road network, and the use of an artificial neural network (i.e. a back propagation neural network, BPNN). The use of another type of artificial neural network (i.e. a self-organizing map, SOM) is investigated as a comparison. The use of both neural networks for selective omission is tested on a real-life road network. The use of a BPNN for practical application road updating is also tested. The results of selective omission are evaluated by overall accuracy. It is found that (1) the use of a BPNN can adaptively determine which and how many roads are to be retained at a specific scale, with an overall accuracy above 80%; (2) it may be hard to determine which and how many roads should be retained at a specific scale using an SOM. Therefore, the BPNN is more effective for selective omission in road updating.
