The alteration of super-elevation and curvature in conventional flat transition curves is based on a continuous function characterising this special transition curve. I propose to apply this interpolation function generally to the cross slope and to consider the curvature and the super-elevation as derived quantities. For spatial transition curves, the cross slope is a rotation in the transverse section plane which itself slopes longitudinally. The kernel of this study is the development of new spatial transition curves. Their curvature of the ground plane normally depends on cross slope, design speed, and the longitudinal section parameters. In this case the design speed is the speed at which no lateral acceleration occurs. As a consequence of its application, zones adjacent to transition curves and having a constant cross slope other than zero show exact circular arcs in the horizontal section only for constant longitudinal gradients and constant design speeds. As railway line the path of the centre of gravity should be chosen instead of the track centre line. Orthogonal to the latter, the sectional profile of the reference vehicle together with its cross slope defines the position of the track centre line and of both rails. Ideally the track centre line would be right on the path of its centre of gravity. But this would have too heavy effects on the design of railway construction and rail vehicles. [Termes IGN] variationRésumé : (Auteur) This work is dedicated to the wavelet modeling of regional and temporal variations of the Earth’s gravitational potential observed by the GRACE (gravity recovery and climate experiment) satellite mission. In the first part, all required mathematical tools and methods involving spherical wavelets are provided. Then, we apply our method to monthly GRACE gravity fields. A strong seasonal signal can be identified which is restricted to areas where large-scale redistributions of continental water mass are expected. This assumption is analyzed and verified by comparing the time-series of regionally obtained wavelet coefficients of the gravitational signal originating from hydrology models and the gravitational potential observed by GRACE. The results are in good agreement with previous studies and illustrate that wavelets are an appropriate tool to investigate regional effects in the Earth’s gravitational field. [Termes IGN] problème des valeurs limitesRésumé : (Auteur) Solving the geodetic boundary-value problem (GBVP) for the precise determination of the geoid requires proper use of the fundamental equation of physical geodesy as the boundary condition given on the geoid. The Stokes formula and kernel are the result of spherical approximation of this fundamental equation, which is a violation of the proper relation between the observed quantity (gravity anomaly) and the sought function (geoid). The violation is interpreted here as the improper formulation of the boundary condition, which implies the spherical Stokes kernel to be in error compared with the proper kernel of integral transformation. To remedy this error, two correction kernels to the Stokes kernel were derived: the first in both closed and spectral forms and the second only in spectral form. Contributions from the first correction kernel to the geoid across the globe were [-0.867 m, +1.002 m] in the low-frequency domain implied by the GRIM4-S4 purely satellite-derived geopotential model. It is a few centimeters, on average, in the high-frequency domain with some exceptions of a few meters in places of high topographical relief and sizable geological features in accordance with the EGM96 combined geopotential model. The contributions from the second correction kernel to the geoid are [-0.259 m, +0.217 m] and [-0.024 m, +0.023 m] in the low- and high-frequency domains, respectively. [Termes IGN] positionnement par DORISRésumé : (Auteur) Geocentre motion signals measured by satellite geodesy and those predicted from the observed mass redistribution in the ocean, atmosphere and terrestrial waters over 1993.1–2003.0 are analysed and compared under two viewpoints: the amplitudes and phases of the seasonal components, and the spectral signature of the non-seasonal components. The geodetic signals partly match the geophysical variations in the seasonal band, with possible remaining annual and semi-annual errors in both techniques, at the millimetre level in the equatorial plane for Satellite laser ranging (SLR) and Doppler Orbitography and radiopositioning integrated on Satellite (DORIS), and at the centimetre level in T z (Z-axis translation) for DORIS. Unlike SLR, the DORIS annual signatures in all three geocentre components have strongly varying amplitudes after 1996. The amplitude of the annual geophysical signal in T y is slowly growing with time. All three geophysical fluids contribute to this effect. The magnitude of the geophysically derived long-term geocentre motion is of the same magnitude in the T x , T y and T z directions, with a 0.5–1.0 mm Allan standard deviation for the 1-year sampling time, while the geodetic values are 2 mm in the equatorial plane for both SLR and DORIS, 4 mm for SLR and 9 mm for DORIS in the T z direction. The mismatch of the geodetic signal with the geophysical one in the inter-annual band is suggested to be due partly to excessive geodetic noise and partly to underestimated geophysical signal. Whatever the principle of measure is, a tide gauge is able to provide a local information on the height of the sea referred to the chosen reference. The main points of this study are: the calibration of the data of the electronic tidal gauge with an automatic data acquisition System installed in Algiers harbour; the comparison of these data with the data acquired from the analogical tidal gauge installed on the same site; and the determination of the mean sea level using the harmonic analysis. The exploitation of the data recorded with the electronic tide gauge of Algiers during a period of two years provide an estimate of the mean sea level and the harmonic components which can be also used for the prediction. The estimated mean sea level differs by a few centimeters of the actual value currently used which was determined in a "arbitrary" way.
