[Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) The paper presents the results of investigating the effect of increase of observation correlations on detectability and identifiability of a single gross error, the outlier test sensitivity and also the response-based measures of internal reliability of networks. To reduce in a research a practically incomputable number of possible test options when considering all the non-diagonal elements of the correlation matrix as variables, its simplest representation was used being a matrix with all non-diagonal elements of equal values, termed uniform correlation. By raising the common correlation value incrementally, a sequence of matrix configurations could be obtained corresponding to the increasing level of observation correlations. For each of the measures characterizing the above mentioned features of network reliability the effect is presented in a diagram form as a function of the increasing level of observation correlations. The influence of observation correlations on sensitivity of the w-test for correlated observations (Förstner 1983, Teunissen 2006) is investigated in comparison with the original Baarda’s w-test designated for uncorrelated observations, to determine the character of expected sensitivity degradation of the latter when used for correlated observations. The correlation effects obtained for different reliability measures exhibit mutual consistency in a satisfactory extent. As a by-product of the analyses, a simple formula valid for any arbitrary correlation matrix is proposed for transforming the Baarda’s w-test statistics into the w-test statistics for correlated observations. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) Statistical tests for whether some coefficients really vary over space play an important role in using the geographically weighted regression (GWR) to explore spatial non-stationarity of the regression relationship. In view of some shortcomings of the existing inferential methods, we propose a residual-based bootstrap test to detect the constant coefficients in a GWR model. The proposed test is free of the assumption that the model error term is normally distributed and admits some useful extensions for identifying more complicated spatial patterns of the coefficients. Some simulation with comparison to the existing test methods is conducted to assess the test performance, including the accuracy of the bootstrap approximation to the null distribution of the test statistic, the power in identifying spatially varying coefficients and the robustness to collinearity among the explanatory variables. The simulation results demonstrate that the bootstrap test works quite well. Furthermore, a real-world data set is analyzed to illustrate the application of the proposed test. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Multivariate Gaussian is often used as a first approximation to the distribution of high-dimensional data. Determining the parameters of this distribution under various constraints is a widely studied problem in statistics, and is often considered as a prototype for testing new algorithms or theoretical frameworks. In this paper, we develop a nonasymptotic approach to the problem of estimating the parameters of a multivariate Gaussian distribution when data are corrupted by outliers. We propose an estimator efficiently computable by solving a convex program|that robustly estimates the population mean and the population covariance matrix even when the sample contains a signi?cant proportion of outliers. Our estimator of the corruption matrix is provably rate optimal simultaneously for the entry-wise `1-norm, the Frobenius norm and the mixed `2=`1 norm. Furthermore, this optimality is achieved by a penalized square-root-of-least-squares method with a universal tuning parameter (calibrating the strength of the penalization). These results are partly extended to the case where p is potentially larger than n, under the additional condition that the inverse covariance matrix is sparse. [Termes IGN] variable aléatoireRésumé : (éditeur) This introductory statistics textbook conveys the essential concepts and tools needed to develop and nurture statistical thinking. It presents descriptive, inductive and explorative statistical methods and guides the reader through the process of quantitative data analysis. In the experimental sciences and interdisciplinary research, data analysis has become an integral part of any scientific study. Issues such as judging the credibility of data, analyzing the data, evaluating the reliability of the obtained results and finally drawing the correct and appropriate conclusions from the results are vital. The text is primarily intended for undergraduate students in disciplines like business administration, the social sciences, medicine, politics, macroeconomics, etc. It features a wealth of examples, exercises and solutions with computer code in the statistical programming language R as well as supplementary material that will enable the reader to quickly adapt all methods to their own applications.
