[Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (Auteur) In terms of geometry, existing approaches for 3D GIS modelling can be classified into three types: surface-based, volume-based, and hybrids. These approaches are suitable for representing rigid geo-objects, but so far there are no ideal GIS modelling methods for simulation of soft geo-objects such as flowing water and soil. In this study, a GIS flow element (FE) and GIS soft voxel (SV) were used for simulation of overland flow and soil erosion. The length of a GIS FE is directly proportional to the velocity of overland flow, while the inclination of a GIS FE represents the direction of overland flow. The GIS SV is generated by implicit functions, which can be utilized to create a smoothed surface. This study reveals that GIS FEs can realistically represent the dynamics and stochastics of soft geo-objects, while GIS SVs can simulate deformation of soft geo-objects. Moreover, both of these approaches can reflect geoscientific laws because the animation of 3D scenarios is controlled by geoscientific models. [Termes IGN] valeur propreRésumé : (Auteur) Video provides strong cues for automatic road extraction that are not available in static aerial images. In video from a static camera, or stabilized (or geo-referenced) aerial video data, motion patterns within a scene enable fonction attribution of scene regions. A "road," for example, may be defined as a path of consistent motion - a definition which is valid in a large and diverse set of environments. The spatio-temporal structure tensor field is an ideal representation of the image derivative distribution at each pixel because it can be updated in real time as video is acquired. An eigen-decomposition of the structure tensor encodes both the local scene motion and the variability in the motion. Additionally, the structure tensor field can be factored into motion components, allowing explicit determination of traffic patterns in intersections. Example results of a real time system are shown for an urban scene with both well-traveled and infrequently traveled roads, indicating that both can be discovered simultaneously. The method is ideal in urban traffic scenes, which are the most difficult to analyze using static imagery.
- saisie semi-automatique de la couche arborée de la BD TOPO, Laurent Guigues ;
- détermination du parcellaire d'occupation du sol à partir de la composante photographique et de la composante cadastrale du Référentiel à Grande Échelle (RGE), Roger Trias-Sanz ;

[Termes IGN] variation de densitéRésumé : (Auteur) When two spatial point processes are overlaid, the one with the higher rate is shown as clustered points, and the other one with the lower rate is often perceived to be background. Usually, we consider the clustered points as feature and the background as noise. Revealing these point clusters allows us to further examine and understand the spatial point process. Two important aspects in discerning spatial cluster features from a set of points are the removal of noise and the determination of the number of spatial clusters. Until now, few methods were able to deal with these two aspects at the same time in an automated way. In this study, we combine the nearest-neighbour (NN) method and the concept of density-connected to address these two aspects. First, the removal of noise can be achieved using the NN method; then, the number of clusters can be determined by finding the density-connected clusters. The complexity for finding density connected clusters is reduced in our algorithm. Since the number of clusters depends on the value of k (the kth nearest neighbour), we introduce the concept of lifetime for the number of clusters in order to measure how stable the segmentation results (or number of clusters) are. The number of clusters with the longest lifetime is considered to be the final number of clusters. Finally, a seismic example of the west part of China is used as a case study to examine the validity of our method. In this seismic case study, we discovered three seismic clusters: one as the foreshocks of the Songpan quake (M=7.2), and the other two as aftershocks related to the Kangding-Jiulong (M=6.2) quake and Daguan quake (M= 7. 1), respectively. Through this case study, we conclude that the approach we proposed is effective in removing noise and determining the number of feature clusters. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (Auteur) For many years high resolution imagery like Ikonos and QuickBird has been available to the public. In contrast to our common sense the increase in spatial resolution does not automatically lead to improved classification accuracy, in particular in urban areas. The automatic classification of land cover classes often requires an object-based approach where classification is based on homogeneous objects, rather than pixels. Because traditional image analysis software is not adapted to this new methodology, the user is forced to invest in expensive new software or to develop new algorithms. This paper presents an alternative classification method, parcel-based, in order to overcome these obstacles. In a first phase an ordinary per-pixel classification is performed and results are summarized and assigned to land parcels. In next phase the land parcels are classified into final land use classes by means of a discriminant analysis of the parcels.
