[Termes IGN] reconstruction d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) We consider sparsity-driven change detection (CD) for human motion indication in through-the-wall radar imaging and urban sensing applications. Stationary targets and clutter are removed via CD, which converts a populated scene into a sparse scene of a few human targets moving inside enclosed structures and behind walls. We establish appropriate CD models for various possible human motions, ranging from translational motions to sudden short movements of the limbs, head, and/or torso. These models permit scene reconstruction within the compressive sensing framework. Results based on laboratory experiments show that a sizable reduction in the data volume is achieved using the proposed approach without a degradation in system performance. [Termes IGN] subsidenceRésumé : (Auteur) Underground mining easily causes casualties, and illegal mining is a major contributor to this issue. It is a challenge to locate and differentiate illegal mines from approved mines over a vast area. Over the past few years, our research in satellite differential radar interferometry (DInSAR) to monitor underground-mine-induced surface subsidence has demonstrated the reliability of DInSAR. In this paper, a DInSAR-based illegal-mining detection system (DIMDS) is proposed to exploit the geometric, spatial, and temporal characteristics of those subsidence patterns. Testing results over a coalfield in Asia have proven the efficiency, reliability, and cost effectiveness of DIMDS in finding out illegal mines. [Termes IGN] phaseRésumé : (Auteur) The obvious directionality inherent in interferometric synthetic aperture radar interferograms allows noise to be filtered very effectively along the fringe direction, leaving the fringe phase undamaged. This paper proposes a highly reliable method for the simultaneous estimation of the direction and density of interferograms, on the basis of which a directionally adaptive filter (DAF) is further proposed. Compared with existing filters, the DAF has a filter window whose direction is able to vary continuously with the fringe direction. The window length and width can be varied adaptively with the fringe density: a large window achieves better filtering results when the fringes are sparse, whereas a small window is better able to preserve the phase detail when they are dense. The processing results of both simulated and real data demonstrate that the DAF effectively eliminates noise and preserves detailed fringe information because its filter window performs adaptively in terms of both direction and size. [Termes IGN] radar pénétrant GPRRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents some experimental results obtained with newly developed stepped-frequency continuous wave (SFCW) ground-penetrating radar in a frequency range from 400 to 4845 MHz. This paper describes the procedures to remove the delays within the transmitter, the receiver, and the antenna system and analyzes the experimental results obtained after processing the measured data. The measured system footprint and the experimental results show that using an ultrawideband (UWB) Archimedean spiral antenna decreases the coupling signal but does not provide the needed cross-range resolution. Based on the measured dimensions of the footprint, a synthetic aperture procedure is used to improve the radar cross-range resolution from around 60 cm to about 6 cm. This paper shows the ability of the radar to detect dielectric objects and to exhibit their shape as it works with circularly polarized waves. What makes this paper different from prior work, which presents some experiments using a vector network analyzer set up to work as an SFCW radar, is that the data were acquired with a real system working with circular polarization and using two UWB Archimedean spirals. The calibration procedures as well as the synthetic aperture procedure were developed and validated based on measured data with the SFCW radar.
