[Termes IGN] vectorisationRésumé : (auteur) The article considers the question of estimating the accuracy of interpolation methods for building digital elevation models using Soviet topographic maps. The territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation was used as the study area, because it is located on the Central Russian Upland and characterized by the complex structure of the vertical and horizontal dissection of the relief. Contour lines automatically obtained using a Python algorithm were used as the initial elevation data to build a digital elevation model. Digital elevation models obtained by thirteen different interpolation methods in ArcGIS and Surfer software were built and analyzed. Special attention is paid to the ANUDEM method, which allows to obtain hydrologically correct digital elevation models. Recommendations for the use of one or another method of interpolation are given. The results can be useful for professionals who use topographic maps in their work and deals with the design using digital elevation models. [Termes IGN] risque naturelRésumé : (auteur) Soil erosion is a type of land degradation caused by the interactive interaction of numerous factors, such as natural and socioeconomic conditions of a particular watershed. In this study, a comprehensive integrated methodology was used to evaluate the water erosion hazard in the Zhuxi watershed in Southern China, which is greatly affected by eroded soil. Ten indicators were selected, and a thematic layer map was generated for each indicator using Geographic Information System (GIS). The weight of each evaluation indicator was determined by combining analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with entropy method. Results show that the east and west sections of the Zhuxi watershed have very low and low grades of soil erosion hazards, respectively, and the middle part has the highest hazard. More than 60% of the area has high erosion hazard (moderate to very high). The intensity of soil erosion is lower than its hazard level, especially in high-grade hazard. The obtained results for erosion hazard level can be used to develop conservation strategies for the Zhuxi watershed. This study evaluates soil erosion hazard and offers reference for soil erosion control. The category of sensitivity was based on six factors including: agricultural areas, industrial areas, drains, Elboughaz, urban areas and fish farms. A statistical model was developed to estimate trophic state index (TSI) based on laboratory measurements of water samples at two different periods of time (Mach 2020 and June 2020) (R2 = 0.96 and 0.94, respectively). The important factors that were considered at the first period were chlorophyll, phosphate PO4 and oxidizable organic matter OOM. In the second period, the considered factors were ammonia NH4, silicates SiO4, and dissolved oxygen (DO). The category of TSI varied from oligotrophic to hyper-eutrophic conditions in March 2020, whereas it varied from eutrophic to hyper-eutrophic in June 2020. The eutrophication condition was higher in June than in March. This may be attributed to the huge amount of wastewaters, their contaminant load and season. The compatibility between sensitivity model and the obtained results in March 2020 was about 54.5%, whereas it was about 27.3% in June 2020. This reveals that the lake is highly sensitive to pollution and therefore it needs to be monitored regularly. However, inherent uncertainties in the road datasets used in spatial access estimates remain largely underreported. These uncertainties might result in unrecognized biases within visualization products and decision-making outcomes that strive to improve social equity based on seemingly egalitarian accessibility metrics. To better understand and address these uncertainties, we evaluated variations in travel impedance for car and bus transportation using proprietary, volunteer-information-based, and free (non-volunteer-information-based) street networks. We then interpreted the measured variations through the lens of street data uncertainty and its propagation in a common E2SFCA model of spatial accessibility. Results indicated that travel impedance disagreement propagates through the modeling process to effect agreement of spatial access index (SPAI) estimates among different street sources, with larger uncertainties observed for bus travel than car travel. Higher impedance coefficients (β), a model parameter, reduced the impact of street-source variations on estimates. Less urbanized regions were found to experience higher street-source variations when compared with the core-metropolitan area. We also demonstrated that a relative spatial access measure – the spatial access ratio (SPAR) – reduced uncertainties introduced by the choice of street datasets. Careful selection of reliable street sources and model parameters (e.g. higher β), as well as consideration of the potential for bias, particularly for less urbanized areas and areas reliant on public transportation, is warranted when leveraging SPAI to inform policy. When reliable/accurate road network data are not accessible or data quality information is not available, the SPAR is a suitable alternative or supplement to SPAI for visualization and analyses. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) The aim of the paper is to identify a suitable method for the construction of a 3D city model from stereo satellite imagery. In order to reach this goal, it is necessary to build a workflow consisting of three main steps: (1) Increasing the geometric resolution of the color images through the use of pan-sharpening techniques, (2) identification of the buildings’ footprint through deep-learning techniques and, finally, (3) building an algorithm in GIS (Geographic Information System) for the extraction of the elevation of buildings. The developed method was applied to stereo imagery acquired by WorldView-2 (WV-2), a commercial Earth-observation satellite. The comparison of the different pan-sharpening techniques showed that the Gram–Schmidt method provided better-quality color images than the other techniques examined; this result was deduced from both the visual analysis of the orthophotos and the analysis of quality indices (RMSE, RASE and ERGAS). Subsequently, a deep-learning technique was applied for pan sharpening an image in order to extract the footprint of buildings. Performance indices (precision, recall, overall accuracy and the F1measure) showed an elevated accuracy in automatic recognition of the buildings. Finally, starting from the Digital Surface Model (DSM) generated by satellite imagery, an algorithm built in the GIS environment allowed the extraction of the building height from the elevation model. In this way, it was possible to build a 3D city model where the buildings are represented as prismatic solids with flat roofs, in a fast and precise way.
