[Termes IGN] tour (bâtiment)Résumé : (auteur) A tall masonry building in an area hit by an earthquake could suffer of some damages whose detection and evaluation are necessary for both emergency management and planning of restoration works. A complete characterization of the health state of a potentially damaged structure requires an integration of data provided by several techniques, which could be impossible in earthquake emergency conditions. The duration of a seismic sequence can reach several months and the state of a tall building could change after each significant shock. Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) allows a fast and contactless acquisition as well as an accurate geometric modeling of a building and therefore can be used to evaluate the seismic-induced changes, possibly related to damages. The results of a study based on TLS monitoring the 100-m high Asinelli tower (Bologna, Italy), which is a very important element of the Italian medieval cultural heritage, during the 2012 Emilia Romagna seismic sequence are provided and discussed here. This work focuses on both method and case study. It is aimed to show how much information, reliable and accurate, can be extracted in a quick and simple way under alert conditions. Moreover, the structural behavior of the tower is provided. Considerations about natural oscillations of a tower subjected to seismic activity are also provided. [Termes IGN] TrenteRésumé : (auteur) Today the use of spaceborne Very High Resolution (VHR) optical sensors for automatic 3D information extraction is increasing in the scientific and civil communities. The 3D Optical Metrology (3DOM) unit of the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) in Trento (Italy) has collected VHR satellite imagery, as well as aerial and terrestrial data over Trento for creating a complete testfield for investigations on image radiometry, geometric accuracy, automatic digital surface model (DSM) generation, 2D/3D feature extraction, city modelling and data fusion. This paper addresses the radiometric and the geometric aspects of the VHR spaceborne imagery included in the Trento testfield and their potential for 3D information extraction. The dataset consist of two stereo-pairs acquired by WorldView-2 and by GeoEye-1 in panchromatic and multispectral mode, and a triplet from Pléiades-1A. For reference and validation, a DSM from airborne LiDAR acquisition is used. The paper gives details on the project, dataset characteristics and achieved results. [Termes IGN] qualité des eauxRésumé : (auteur) We analysed the sensitivity of a Case-2 bio-optical model where the water reflectance is computed as a function of concentrations of three optical water quality parameters (WQPs) of three Italian lakes (Garda, Mantua and Trasimeno) and their specific absorption and backscattering coefficients. The modelled reflectance is computed based on the spectral characteristics of three optical sensors, on-board Landsat-8, Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3. The variance-based analysis was able to quantify the lake-dependence for all (50,000 runs) the simulated reflectance. The results confirmed that Sentinel-3 water reflectance is sensitive to WQPs in all the trophic conditions investigated. [Termes IGN] TunisieRésumé : (auteur) Open data initiatives are characterized, in several countries, by a great extension of the number of data sets made available for access by public administrations, constituencies, businesses and other actors, such as journalists, international institutions and academics, to mention a few. However, most of the open data sets rely on selection criteria, based on a technology-driven perspective, rather than a focus on the potential public and social value of data to be published. Several experiences and reports confirm this issue, such as those of the Open Data Census. However, there are also relevant best practices. The goal of this paper is to investigate the different dimensions of a framework suitable to support public administrations, as well as constituencies, in assessing and benchmarking the social value of open data initiatives. The framework is tested on three initiatives, referring to three different countries, Italy, the United Kingdom and Tunisia. The countries have been selected to provide a focus on European and Mediterranean countries, considering also the difference in legal frameworks (civic law vs. common law countries). [Vedettes matières IGN] Ecologie forestièreRésumé : (auteur) The Vegetation Prodrome of Italy was promoted in 2012 by the Italian “Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea Protection”,in collaboration with the “Italian Society of Botany”, to provide a comprehensive and systematic catalogue and description ofItalian plant communities. The Prodrome that is presented in this paper is the first full organic synthesis of the vegetation ofItaly at the alliance syntaxonomic level. It fulfils several needs, the main one being a unified and comprehensive nationalframework that may make an important contribution to the definition of the European Vegetation Prodrome. Syntaxonomy,as well as taxonomy, is sometimes based on considerations that may in part diverge: several authors tend to favour modelsthat are divisive or aggregative to a greater or lesser extent in terms of flora, biogeography and ecology. These different pointsof view stimulate the scientific debate and allow the adoption of a framework that is more widely supported. The Prodromeincludes 75 classes, 2 subclasses, 175 orders, 6 suborders and 393 alliances. The classes were grouped into nine broadcategories according to structural, physiognomic and synecological elements rather than to syntaxonomic criteria. The rank, full valid name, any synonymies and incorrect names are provided for eachsyntaxon. The short declaration highlights thephysiognomy, synecology, syndynamics and distribution of the plant communities that belong to thesyntaxon. The Prodromeof the Italian Vegetation is linked to the European Strategy for Biodiversity, the European Habitats Directive and theEuropean Working Groups related to the ecosystems and their services. In addition to basic applications, the Prodrome canbe used as a framework for scientific research related to the investigation of the relationships between plant communities andthe environmental factors that influence their composition and distribution.
