[Termes IGN] tomographieRésumé : (auteur) The electron density structures of the seismo-traveling ionospheric disturbances (STIDs) during the Tohoku earthquake are reconstructed by applying the three-dimensional computerized ionospheric tomography (3DCIT) technique with a 30-s time resolution for the first time. The vertical distribution of 3DCIT results is consistent with the constellation observing system for meteorology, ionosphere and climate (COSMIC) observations. The horizontal speeds of STIDs at different altitudes are estimated, and the three types of STIDs related to Rayleigh waves, acoustic waves and gravity waves are identified by their propagation characters. The magnitude of STIDs related to Rayleigh waves decreased with altitude, and there was no significant difference between the speeds (~ 2500 m/s) at different altitudes. The STIDs caused by acoustic waves traveled faster at 300 km altitude (~ 666–724 m/s) than at 150 km altitude (~ 500–550 m/s). From 150 to 250 km altitudes, in the STIDs induced by gravity waves, the magnitude of positive and negative wave fronts showed the opposite trend. The speed at 300 km altitude (~ 332 m/s) was slightly larger than at 150 km altitude (~ 310 m/s). The Rayleigh waves related STIDs showed a conic-like geometry, whereas the acoustic waves and gravity waves induced STIDs showed inverted conic-like geometries. The possible propagation mechanisms of different types of STIDs are also discussed. [Termes IGN] variation temporelleRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we investigate the hemispheric symmetric and asymmetric characteristics of ionospheric total electron content (TEC) and its dependency on the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) in the northern and southern polar ionosphere. The changes in amplitude and phase scintillation are also probed through Global Ionospheric Scintillation and TEC monitoring (GISTM) systems recordings at North pole [Himadri station; Geographic 78°55′ N, 11°56′ E] and South pole [Maitri station; Geographic 70°46′ S 11°44′ E]. Observations show the range of %TEC variability being relatively more over Antarctic region (−40 % to 60 %) than Arctic region (−25 % to 25 %), corroborating the role of the dominant solar photoionization production process. Our analysis confirms that TEC variation at polar latitudes is a function of magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, depending on interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) orientation and magnitude in the X ( Bx), Y ( By), and Z ( Bz) plane. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) To automate extraction of bathymetric soundings from lidar point clouds, two machine learning (ML1) techniques were combined with a more conventional density-based algorithm. The study area was four data “tiles” near the Florida Keys. The density-based algorithm determined the most likely depth (MLD) for a grid of “estimation nodes” (ENs). Unsupervised k-means clustering determined which EN’s MLD depth and associated soundings represented ocean depth rather than ocean surface or noise to produce a preliminary classification. An extreme gradient boosting (XGB) model was fitted to pulse return metadata – e.g. return intensity, incidence angle – to produce a final Bathy/NotBathy classification. Compared to an operationally produced reference classification, the XGB model increased global accuracy and decreased the false negative rate (FNR) – i.e. undetected bathymetry – that are most important for nautical navigation for all but one tile. Agreement between the final XGB and operational reference classifications ranged from 0.84 to 0.999. Imbalance between Bathy and NotBathy was addressed using a probability decision threshold that equalizes the FNR and the true positive rate (TPR). Two methods are presented for visually evaluating differences between the two classifications spatially and in feature-space. [Termes IGN] surface imperméableRésumé : (Auteur) Urban spectral indices have made promising improvements in the last two decades in urban land use land cover studies through mapping, estimation, change detection, time-series analyzing, urban dynamics, monitoring, modeling, and so on. Remote sensing spectral indices are unsupervised, unbiased, rapid, scalable, and quantitative in information extraction. Hence, we aimed to summarize the most relevant urban spectral indices by focusing on multispectral, thermal, and nighttime lights indices. We use the search terms "urban index", "built-up index", "normalized difference built-up area (NDBI )", "impervious surface index", and "spectral urban index" to collect relevant literature from the "Web of Science Core Collection" database. We found that all urban spectral indices developed since 2003, except NDBI. This review will help understand the applications of urban spectral indices, the selection of indices based on available spectral bands, and their merits and demerits.
