[Termes IGN] XMLRésumé : (Auteur) The advantages of three dimensional (3D) city models can be seen in various applications including photogrammetry, urban and regional planning, computer games, etc. They expand the visualization and analysis capabilities of Geographic Information Systems on cities, and they can be developed using web standards. However, these 3D city models consume much more storage compared to two dimensional (2 D) spatial data. They involve extra geometrical and topological information together with semantic data. Without a proper spatial data clustering method and its corresponding spatial data access method, retrieving portions of and especially searching these 3D city models, will not be done optimally. Even though current developments are based on an open data model allotted by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) called CityGML, its XML-based structure makes it challenging to cluster the 3D urban objects. In this research, the authors propose an opponent data constellation technique of space-filling curves (3D Hilbert curves) for 3D city model data representation. Unlike previous methods, that try to project 3D or n-dimensional data down to 2D or 3D using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) or Hilbert mappings, in this research, they extend the Hilbert space-filling curve to one higher dimension for 3D city model data implementations. The query performance was tested for single object, nearest neighbor and range search queries using a CityGML dataset of 1,000 building blocks and the results are presented in this paper. The advantages of implementing space-filling curves in 3D city modeling will improve data retrieval time by means of optimized 3D adjacency, nearest neighbor information and 3D indexing. The Hilbert mapping, which maps a sub-interval of the ([0,1]) interval to the corresponding portion of the d-dimensional Hilbert's curve, preserves the Lebesgue measure and is Lipschitz continuous. Depending on the applications, several alternatives are possible in order to cluster spatial data together in the third dimension compared to its clustering in 2 D. [Termes IGN] vitesseRésumé : (Auteur) Expédition multidisciplinaire au Groenland en août 2013, dont une mission topographique sur le suivi de l'écoulement du glacier "Eqip Sermia" à l'aide de mesures sur cibles et sur séracs. Ces mesures ont permis de mettre en évidence des vitesses d'écoulement du glacier de 6 m par jour, des vitesses aussi rapides qu'en 1950 malgré le recul du glacier. Puis réalisation de la numérisation 3D de la cabane Paul-Emile Victor dans le cadre d'un projet de rénovation. Enfin, première réalisation d'un relevé 3D d'un moulin "de glace sur l'inlandsis" Groenlandais. Ce test positif va permettre l'étude de la formation et la déformation d'un moulin fossile. L'ensemble des mesures ont été réalisées avec une Multistation MS50 de Leica Geosystems. Aventure humaine et technique dans une région sentinelle du changement climatique. [Termes IGN] vitesseRésumé : (Auteur) For the observation and monitoring of glacier surface velocity (GSV), remote sensing is an increasingly suitable tool thanks to the high temporal and spatial resolution of the data. Radar sensors have the specific advantage over optical sensors of being nearly weather and time-independent. Two image pairs separated by 11 days, acquired with the high-resolution spotlight (HS) and stripmap (SM) modes of the German sensor TerraSAR-X, were used to estimate GSV over Switzerland’s Aletsch Glacier. The SM mode covers larger ground swaths, making it more suitable for glacier-wide observations, while the HS images cover less area but offer the highest-possible spatial resolution, approximately 1x1 m on the ground. The images were acquired during the summer to maximise feature visibility by minimal snow cover. GSV estimation was performed using two methods, the comparison of which was a major goal of this study: traditional cross-correlation optimisation and a dense image matching algorithm based on complex wavelet decomposition. Each method was found to have unique advantages and disadvantages, but it was concluded that for GSV monitoring, cross-correlation is probably preferable to the wavelet-based approach. While it generates fewer estimates per unit area, this is not necessarily a critical requirement for all glaciological applications, and the method requires less initial “tuning” (calibration) than the wavelet algorithm, making it a slightly better tool in operational contexts. Also, the use of the highest-resolution spotlight datasets is recommended over stripmap mode images when large-area coverage is less critical. The comparative lack of visible features at the resolution of the stripmap images made reliable GSV estimation difficult, with the exception of several small areas dominated by large crevasses. [Termes IGN] vitesseRésumé : (Auteur) Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) reflectometry has emerged recently as a promising remote sensing tool to retrieve various geophysical parameters of the Earth's surface. GNSS-reflected signals, after being received and processed by the airborne or spaceborne receiver, are available as delay correlation waveforms or as delay-Doppler maps (DDMs). In the case of a rough ocean surface, those characteristics can be related to the rms of the L-band limited slopes of the surface waves and, from there, to the surface wind speed. The raw GNSS-reflected signal can be either processed in real time by the receiver or recorded and stored on board and postprocessed in a laboratory. The latter approach leveraging a software receiver allows more flexibility while processing the raw data. This work analyzes DDMs obtained as a result of processing of the data collected by the Global Positioning System (GPS) data logger/software receiver on board the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Gulfstream-IV jet aircraft. Thereafter, the DDMs were used to retrieve surface wind speed employing several different metrics that characterize the DDM extent in the Doppler frequency-delay domain. In contrast to previous works in which winds have been retrieved by fitting the theoretically modeled curves into measured correlation waveforms, here, we do not rely on any model for the determination. Instead, the approach is based on a linear regression between DDM observables and the wind speeds obtained in simultaneous GPS dropsonde measurements.
