[Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) The real-time kinematic positioning technique (RTK) and visual–inertial odometry (VIO) are both promising positioning technologies. However, RTK degrades in GNSS-hostile areas, where global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals are reflected and blocked, while VIO is affected by long-term drift. The integration of RTK and VIO can improve the accuracy and robustness of positioning. In recent years, smartphones equipped with multiple sensors have become commodities and can provide measurements for integrating RTK and VIO. This paper verifies the feasibility of integrating RTK and VIO using smartphones, and we propose an improved algorithm to integrate RTK and VIO with better performance. We began by developing an Android smartphone application for data collection and then wrote a Python program to convert the data to a robot operating system (ROS) bag. Next, we established two ROS nodes to calculate the RTK results and accomplish the integration. Finally, we conducted experiments in urban areas to assess the integration of RTK and VIO based on smartphones. The results demonstrate that the integration improves the accuracy and robustness of positioning and that our improved algorithm reduces altitude deviation. Our work can aid navigation and positioning research, which is the reason why we open source the majority of the codes at our GitHub. [Termes IGN] Wuhan (Chine)Résumé : (auteur) Precise point positioning (PPP) is receiving increasing interest due to its cost-effectiveness, global coverage and high accuracy. However, its application in the urban environment is still full of challenges due to the satellite tracking sky-view. Thus, we presented a comprehensive positioning model by fusing the multi-GNSS (global navigation satellite system) combination, GNSS/INS (inertial navigation system) tightly coupled integration as well as the ionospheric and tropospheric augmentation in the undifferenced and uncombined PPP. The performance of this model in dual-frequency and single-frequency positioning was assessed with two experiments that denoted as T019 and T023, respectively, and both the experiments were carried out in a real urban environment. Particularly, the experiment T023 was carried out in the Second Ring Road of Wuhan city, which can be regarded as a typical downtown environment. Concerning the regional atmospheric augmentation, observations from 5 reference stations with an inter-station distance of about 40 km were also collected during the experimental time. The comparison between reference stations suggested that the regional tropospheric model had a precision of better than 0.6 cm in terms of zenith tropospheric delay, while the regional ionospheric model had a precision of around 0.5 total electron content unit in terms of Vertical Total Electron Content. It can be concluded that the GPS-only PPP can be improved significantly for urban vehicle navigation with these techniques, i.e., the multi-GNSS, INS tightly coupled integration and the atmospheric augmentation, through the positioning analysis, while INS tightly coupled integration makes the most contributions under the downtown environment, and the improvement of the regional atmospheric augmentation in single-frequency PPP is more significant since that single frequency is more sensitive to the ionospheric delay. In addition, it is proved that the regional atmospheric augmentation accelerates positioning convergence. The 3D positioning root-mean-square (RMS) with the comprehensive positioning model for dual frequency are 0.22 m and 0.77 m for T019 and T023, respectively. Concerning single-frequency PPP, the 3D RMS is 0.45 m and 1.17 m for T019 and T023, respectively. However, the severe distortion in fisheye images lead to feature matching difficulties. This paper proposes an IMU-assisted fisheye image matching method called spherically optimized random sample consensus (So-RANSAC). We converted the putative correspondences into fisheye spherical coordinates and then used an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to provide relative rotation angles to assist fisheye image epipolar constraints and improve the accuracy of pose estimation and mismatch removal. To verify the performance of So-RANSAC, experiments were performed on fisheye images of urban drainage pipes and public data sets. The experimental results showed that So-RANSAC can effectively improve the mismatch removal accuracy, and its performance was superior to the commonly used fisheye image matching methods in various experimental scenarios. [Termes IGN] trajet multipleRésumé : (auteur) Multipath effects and signal obstruction by buildings in urban canyons can lead to inaccurate GNSS measurements and therefore errors in the estimated trajectory of Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) systems; consequently, derived point clouds are distorted and lose spatial consistency. We obtain decimetre-level trajectory accuracy making use of corresponding points between the MLS data and aerial images with accurate exterior orientations instead of using ground control points. The MLS trajectory is estimated based on observation equations resulting from these corresponding points, the original IMU observations, and soft constraints on the pitch and yaw rotations of the vehicle. We analyse the quality of the trajectory enhancement under several conditions where the experiments were designed to test the influence of the number and quality of corresponding points and to test different settings for a B-spline representation of the vehicle trajectory. The method was tested on two independently acquired MLS datasets in Rotterdam by enhancing the trajectories and evaluating them using checkpoints. The RMSE values of the original GNSS/IMU based Kalman filter results at the checkpoints were 0.26 m, 0.30 m, and 0.47 m for the X-, Y- and Z-coordinates in the first dataset and 1.10 m, 1.51 m, and 1.81 m in the second dataset. The latter dataset was recorded with a lower quality IMU in an area with taller buildings. After trajectory adjustment these RMSE values were reduced to 0.09 m, 0.11 m, and 0.16 m for the first dataset and 0.12 m, 0.14 m, and 0.18 m for the second dataset. The results confirmed that, if sufficient tie points between the point cloud and aerial imagery are available, the method supports geo-referencing of MLS point clouds in urban canyons with a near-decimetre accuracy. [Termes IGN] structure-from-motionRésumé : (auteur) Knowledge of offset vectors from vessel mounted sonars, to systems such as Inertial Measurement Units and Global Navigation Satellite Systems is crucial for accurate ocean mapping applications. Traditional survey methods, such as employing laser scanners or total stations, are used to determine professional vessel offset distances reliably. However, for vessels of opportunity that are collecting volunteer bathymetric data, it is beneficial to consider survey methods that may be less time consuming, less expensive, or which do not involve bringing the vessel into a dry dock. Thus, this article explores two alternative methods that meet this criterion for horizontally calibrating vessels. Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs) were used to horizontally calibrate a vessel with both Structure from Motion photogrammetry and aerial lidar while the vessel was moored to a floating dock. Estimates of the horizontal deviations from ground truth, were obtained by comparing the horizontal distances between targets on a vessel, acquired by the UAS methods, to multiple ground truth sources: a survey-grade terrestrial laser scan and fiberglass tape measurements. The investigated methods were able to achieve horizontal deviations on the order of centimeters with the use of Ground Control Points.
