[Termes IGN] GNSS assisté pour la navigationRésumé : (Auteur) Determination of horizontal attitude poses a general problem for navigation applications, especially those using small aerial platforms and requiring low-cost solutions. A team of German engineers are exploring a method that combines accelerometers, gyroscopes, and a magnetic field sensor with a GNSS compass to provide a multi-sensor attitude system for portable, small-sized launcher applications. Constraints applied within an extended LAMBDA method result in a shortened time to first fix and increased reliability of the ambiguity resolution. Other promising results include bridging GNSS dropouts as well as enhanced integrity monitoring. [Termes IGN] précision submillimétriqueRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents two methods to calibrate a photogrammetric-based mobile mapping system. The paper is organised as follow. The first part presents the problem we are trying to solve, i.e. the calibration of multi-camera head on a mobile mapping system equipped with an Inertial Navigation System (INS). We want to estimate on the one hand the relative pose of images within the head and on the other hand the relative pose between the head and the INS. The second part presents the first calibration method which is based on observations of a sub-millimeter accuracy topometric target network. The third part explores a method to determine the calibration on-line, i.e. using the images acquired during the surveys. The final section compare the two methods on an neutral data set and resumes the pros and cons of each method. [Termes IGN] représentation mentale spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) Navigation systems are increasingly taking on the role of classic print maps for orientation in traffic. These electronic aids help to find the right route, but they hardly seem to contribute to spatial learning and thus the formation of long-term orientation knowledge. A practice-oriented efficiency comparison of a print map in form of a conventional city map and a navigation device provides first insights. The empirical results show that taking propositional and analogue spatial information from navigation systems leads to much weaker effects on cognitive mapping. [Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (Auteur) To reliably navigate with fewer than four satellites, GPS pseudoranges need to be augmented with measurements from other sensors, such as a reduced inertial sensor system or RISS. What is the best way to combine the RISS measurements with the GPS measurements? The classic approach is to integrate the measurements in a conventional tightly coupled Kalman filter. But in this month’s column, we look at how a mathematical procedure called parallel cascade identification can improve the Kalman filter’s job, when navigating with three, two, or even one GPS satellite.
