[Termes IGN] UkraineRésumé : (Auteur) Since 2011 an intensive international cooperation has been in place between the Institute for Applied Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics (IAPG) at the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg, Germany, and various Ukrainian universities. Following an initial contact by Prof. Gottfried Konecny, the first visit was organized, and was followed by many more. In subsequent years an intensive cooperation was established particularly with the National University for Construction and Architecture (KNUCA) in Kiev. In addition to architects and civil engineers, KNUCA also trains geodesists, geo-information scientists and landscape planners. The cooperation today includes the reciprocal exchange of scientists and students, research projects, courses and cooperation at many other levels. In addition, a commercial company has been established, SPM3D LLC, which now employs more than 14 engineers in the field of 3D acquisition, point cloud processing and modeling. This article summarizes the history of the cooperation and presents the results of associated student projects. In addition, results of joint work on the development of a virtual laser scanner are presented, part of a German-Ukrainian initiative to digitize teaching. [Termes IGN] modèle numérique de surfaceRésumé : (Auteur) Currently, the practical solution to remove the errors and artifacts in the digital surface models (DSM ) through stereo images is still manual or semiautomatic editing those affected patches. Although some degrees of semiautomation can be gained, the DSM refinement remains a labor consuming and expensive process. This paper proposes a new method to correct errors in DSM or/and refine an existing coarse DSM. The method employs the concept of projected images together with some image matching techniques to correct/ refine the affected regions in DSM. Since projected images are used, the proposed method can greatly simplify the complicated coordinate transformations and pixel resampling; therefore, the errors/artifacts in DSM can be amended more efficiently and accurately. Several experiments demonstrate the practical usefulness of the proposed method under some scenarios, and some potential improvements are also pointed out to accommodate the various needs during refining DSM. [Termes IGN] squelettisationRésumé : (auteur) We present a novel approach for dynamic human body reconstruction and motion tracking using low-cost depth cameras. Our reconstruction system is able to produce a sequence of dynamic 3D human body models from the noisy input depth data. To accurately align the template model with noisy input data, we combine skeleton-driven deformation and mesh deformation techniques to enhance the registration robustness to depth missing, occlusions, and severe noise. In addition, a novel data-driven 3D human body model is introduced to efficiently reconstruct human body models with wide shape and pose variations only using a limited number of training databases with standard standing pose. We perform quantitative and qualitative experiments to evaluate our method and compare it with other methods for body reconstruction on both synthetic and real datasets. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. [Termes IGN] surface imperméableRésumé : (Auteur) The continuous increasing of impervious surface (IS) hinders the sustainable development of cities. Using optical images alone to extract IS is usually limited by weather, which obliges us to develop new data sources. The obvious differences between natural and artificial targets in interferometric synthetic-aperture radar coherence images have attracted the attention of researchers. A few studies have attempted to use coherence images to extract IS—mostly single-temporal coherence images, which are affected by de-coherence factors. And due to speckle, the results are rather fragmented. In this study, we used time-series coherence images and introduced multi-resolution segmentation as a postprocessing step to extract IS. From our experiments, the results from the proposed method were more complete and achieved considerable accuracy, confirming the potential of time-series coherence images for extracting IS. [Termes IGN] toponymie localeRésumé : (Auteur) The authors of the well-known collection Portugaliae Monumenta Cartographica hinted at connections between two anonymous portolan charts from the beginning of the sixteenth century, namely the portolan chart at the Bibliothèque Municipale of Dijon and a fragment of a chart kept in Lisbon in the Archive at Torre do Tombo. Later, they also mentioned affinities between those two charts and the famous chart known as Kunstmann III. However, they did not pursue these observations further. The present paper proceeds from where those researchers stopped investigating and proposes a fresh look on this cartographic material by combining a traditional historical approach with modern digital techniques. First, a comparative study of the toponomy of a common area of the charts will be presented. Later, each chart will be examined with the help of cartometric methods to access their implicit geometry. The advancements on the study of correlations between these charts will be shown, thus confirming that the combination of traditional and digital methods of investigation open very promising perspectives to the study of unsolved questions in the History of Cartography.
