[Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) The automation of feature extraction from digital imagery is the most challenging task facing those working today in photogrammetry research and development. Unsolved so far is the fully automatic and reliable detection and reconstruction of objects. There are solutions available for the automation of specific tasks under certain restrictions, but all methods show deficiencies when faced with poor image quality. Occlusions and shadows are factors which frequently prevent high success rates. One current practice involves a semiautomatic approach, a human operator being employed for the extremely difficult interpretation tasks. The authors present an overview of inJECT, a semiautomatic building extraction system. This system, developed by INPHO in cooperation with the Institute of Photogrammetry at the University of Bonn, offers a set of building primitives covering the most common basic house shapes. Automated modules assist the human operator in the measuring phase. The system does not require stereo viewing and operators need only a short course of training. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Rock glaciers, an important component to alpine systems, have been identified as an indicator of permafrost, distribution as well as a resource for humans, serving as backdrops for residential areas, dam abutments, and a water source for urban areas. As a result, mapping is imperative ; however, a simple method for rock glacier detection has not been developed. Traditionally, rock glaciers have been mapped using field techniques or aerial photography. Spaceborne Landsat MSS data has proven to be ineffective for identifying rock glaciers. The purpose of this research is to establish a modeling procedure to identify rock glaciers of the Blanca Massif of Colorado utilizing Landsat TM data, image enhancements, and ancillary DEM data. I used a topographic normalizing function to reduce shadows, band ratios and principal components to emphasize rock glaciers, edge enhancements to detect all distinct rock glacier borders, and a 1:20,000 DEM to restrict the study area to criteria common to all rock, glaciers : elevations greater than 11,000 feet and a slope between 0° and 21°. Each of the enhancement techniques was tested individually and in combination with each other. The combination image, which utilized all of the enhancements, provided the greatest classification accuracy. The overall classification accuracy of rock glaciers in the Blanca Massif was 81.0%. Tests revealed that rock glaciers greater than 3.65 hectares can be mapped. These findings suggest that Landsat TM data, when used in conjunction with a combination of ratios, principal components, edge enhancements, and DEM data, can be used to accurately map most rock glaciers. [Termes IGN] teinteRésumé : (Auteur) In the last step of the mosaic production chain, neighbouring and partly overlapping orthoimages of a scene are merged to one mosaic. This should be done in a way that the transition from one to another orthoimage cannot be seen. The production line of orthoimages consists of several steps, each of which can introduce a different appearance regarding geometry, radiometry and spectral properties to the resulting orthoimage. For mosaicking adjacent orthoimages, a path of lowest difference in a combination of criteria is searched in the overlap area of these images. The seamline is chosen along this path of maximum similarity. In this paper, criteria for such an optimal seamline in colour orthoimages are elaborated. The main requirements are on one hand high colour similarity of the images (mainly in hue and intensity), and on the other hand high texture similarity (in orientation and magnitude of image gradients). The specified criteria are formulated in the energy function of snakes. A snake is an active contour which moves through an image and changes its shape until a minimum of its energy function is found. We use two snakes that attract one another (twin snakes). In a hierarchical strategy, a proper seamline is delineated fully automatically. The potential of the method is shown with an example. [Termes IGN] processus ponctuelRésumé : (auteur) This work aims at detecting buildings in digital aerial photographs. We model a set of buildings by a configuration of objects. We define a point process on the set of configurations, which could be divided into two parts: the first one is a prior model on the configurations which uses interactions between objects. The second one is a data model which enforces the coherence with the images. Thus we obtain a distribution /spl pi/ which has to be maximized. In order to achieve this maximum, we use a Monte Carlo Markov Chain simulation-a Metropolis-Hastings-Green algorithm-mixed with simulated annealing. Then we test this method on both synthetic and real data.
