[Termes IGN] infrastructure nationale des données localiséesRésumé : (Auteur) Le " National Spatial Data Infrastructure Expert Meeting " s'est tenu du 18 au 21 février 1993 à Charleston. Il avait pour objectif de définir l'infrastructure en données géographiques numériques à mettre en place aux Etats-Unis : quelles données, qui doit les produire et les maintenir et comment les distribuer ? Suite à cette réunion, il est clair que la majorité des experts pense que, aux Etats-Unis, la carte topographique 1/24.000 sous forme numérique n'est pas un produit correspondant aux besoins actuels, car elle est trop longue à réaliser et la définition des objets est trop subjective. L'infrastructure proposée est composée du réseau géodésique de base, d'une couverture orthophotographique systématique, des limites administratives et de la description de l'axe des voies de communications avec les adresses postales. Etant donné l'avance du marché nord-américain sur le marché européen dans ce domaine, il est intéressant de comparer cette proposition avec ce qui serait souhaitable et réalisable au niveau européen.
