[Termes IGN] SIG 3DRésumé : (auteur) CityGML, as the standard for the representation and exchange of 3D city models, contains rich information in terms of geometry, semantics, topology and appearance. With respect to topology, CityGML adopts the XLink approach to represent topological relationships between different geometric aggregates or thematic features; however, it is limited to shared objects. This paper proposes a two-level model for representing 3D topological relationships in CityGML: high-level (semantic-level) topology between semantic features and low-level (geometric-level) topology between geometric primitives. Five topological relationships are adopted in this model: touch, in, equal, overlap and disjoint. The semantic-level topology is derived from the geometric-level topology on the basis of the shared geometric primitives. To maintain the 3D topology, topological consistency rules are presented. An Application Domain Extension, called TopoADE, is proposed for the implementation of the topological model. The TopoADE consists of three modules: Topology, Feature and Geometry. Finally, 3D city models with LoD1 to LoD4 are used to test this model. Experimentation on those data sets indicates a validation of the proposed topological model in CityGML. [Termes IGN] structure d'un peuplement forestierRésumé : (Auteur) The scientific community involved in the UN-REDD program is still reporting large uncertainties about the amount and spatial variability of CO2 stored in forests. The main limitation has been the lack of field samplings over space and time needed to calibrate and convert remote sensing measurements into aboveground biomass (AGB). As an alternative to costly field inventories, we examine the reliability of state-of-the-art lidar methods to provide direct retrieval of many forest metrics that are commonly collected through field sampling techniques (e.g., tree density, individual tree height, crown cover). AGB is estimated using existing allometric equations that are fed by lidar-derived metrics at either the individual tree- or forest layer-level (for the overstory or underneath layers, respectively). Results over 40 plots of a multilayered forest located in northwest Portugal show that the lidar method provides AGB estimates with a relatively small random error (RMSE = of 17.1%) and bias (of 4.6%). It provides local AGB baselines that meet the requirements in terms of accuracy to calibrate satellite remote sensing measurements (e.g., the upcoming lidar GEDI (Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation), and the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) missions NISAR (National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Indian Space Research Organization SAR) and BIOMASS from the European Space Agency, ESA) for AGB mapping purposes. The development of similar techniques over a variety of forest types would be a significant improvement in quantifying CO2 stocks and changes to comply with the UN-REDD policies. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) The future information needs of stakeholders for hydrogeological and hydro-climate data management and assessment in New Zealand may be met with an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards-compliant publicly accessible web services framework which aims to provide integrated use of groundwater information and environmental observation data in general. The stages of the framework development described in this article are search and discovery as well as data collection and access with (meta)data services, which are developed in a community process. The concept and prototype implementation of OGC-compliant web services for groundwater and hydro-climate data include demonstration data services that present multiple distributed datasets of environmental observations. The results also iterate over the stakeholder community process and the refined profile of OGC services for environmental observation data sharing within the New Zealand Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) landscape, including datasets from the National Groundwater Monitoring Program and the New Zealand Climate Database along with datasets from affiliated regional councils at regional- and sub-regional scales. With the definition of the New Zealand observation data profile we show that current state-of-the-art standards do not necessarily need to be improved, but that the community has to agree upon how to use these standards in an iterative process. The validations show that the consistence of the coordinate system must be considered firstly to exclude the system bias between GNSS and strong-motion. The GNSS sampling rate is suggested about 1–5 Hz, and we should give the strong-motion’s baseline shift with a larger dynamic noise as its variation is very swift. The initialization time of solving the baseline shift is less than one minute, and ambiguity resolution strategy is not greatly improved the solution. The data quality is very important for the solution, we advised to use multi-frequency and multi-system observations. These ideas give an important guide for real-time earthquake monitoring and early warning by the tight integration of GNSS and strong-motion records. [Termes IGN] sous-solRésumé : (Auteur) Underground mines are characterized by a network of intersecting tunnels and sharp turns, an environment which is particularly challenging for radiofrequency based positioning systems due to extreme multipath, non-line-of-sight propagation, and poor anchor geometry. Such systems typically require a dense grid of devices to enable 3-D positioning. Moreover, the precise position of each anchor node needs to be precisely surveyed, a particularly challenging task in underground environments. Magneto-inductive (MI) positioning, which provides 3-D position and orientation from a single transmitter and penetrates thick layers of soil and rock without loss, is a more promising approach, but so far has only been investigated in simple point-to-point contexts. In this paper, we develop a novel MI positioning approach to cover an extended underground 3-D space with unknown geometry using a rapidly deployable anchor network. The key to our approach is that the position of only a single anchor needs to be accurately surveyed-the positions of all secondary anchors are determined using an iterative refinement process using measurements obtained from receivers within the network. This avoids the particularly challenging and time-intensive task in an underground environment of accurately surveying the positions of all of the transmitters. We also demonstrate how measurements obtained from multiple transmitters can be fused to improve localization accuracy. We validate the proposed approach in a man-made cave and show that, with a portable system that took 5 min to deploy, we were able to provide accurate through-the-earth location capability to nodes placed along a suite of tunnels.
