[Termes IGN] incertitude des donnéesRésumé : (auteur) In the previous article (January 2016), I point out the unreliability of sample standard deviations as estimates for population standard errors when the number of repeated observations is very small, which is typically the problem in surveying. In this article I look at how we can estimate the standard errors for observations based on estimates for setup errors, leveling errors, and instrument-specific accuracies using error propagation principles. Note that this method of estimating uncertainties in observations is not new, since R. Ben Buckner, Edward Mikhail, and Gordon Gracie published these concepts in the early 1980s. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (éditeur) Reconstruction and maintenance work in historical buildings such as churches requires detailed and accurate information about them, but it can be difficult and expensive to acquire such data efficiently. The combination of terrestrial Lidar and UAS-based photogrammetry provides an adequate approach for gathering a full model of the outside of a church. Additionally, it allows for accuracy evaluation by comparing areas with overlap between terrestrial Lidar and the point cloud derived from the UAS images. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (éditeur) Chile is a good example of a South American country with a successful spatial data infrastructure (SDI). Regions and sectors can build upon the national infrastructure white staying focused on their own needs. Therefore, the infrastructure is well used and growing coherently in both directions - in terms of both users and providers of spatial data. The National System for Territorial Information Coordination (SNiT) is steered by an executive secretariat at the Ministry of National Assets, headed by Alvaro Monett. He is proud of what has been realised so far but still sees many challenges left to tackle. [Termes IGN] navigationRésumé : (Auteur) Relative navigation based on GPS receivers and inertial measurement units is required in many applications including formation flying, collision avoidance, cooperative positioning, and accident monitoring. Since sensors are mounted on different vehicles which are moving independently, sensor errors are more variable in relative navigation than in single-vehicle navigation due to different vehicle dynamics and signal environments. In order to improve the robustness against sensor error variability in relative navigation, we present an efficient adaptive GPS/INS integration method. In the proposed method, the covariances of GPS and inertial measurements are estimated separately by the innovations of two fundamentally different filters. One is the position-domain carrier-smoothed-code filter and the other is the velocity-aided Kalman filter. By the proposed two-filter adaptive estimation method, the covariance estimation of the two sensors can be isolated effectively since each filter estimates its own measurement noise. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method improves relative navigation accuracy by appropriate noise covariance estimation.
