[Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Comparisons between optical clocks with an accuracy and stability approaching the 10-18 in term of relative frequency shift are opening new perspectives for the direct determination of geopotential at a centimeter-level accuracy in geoid height. However, so far detailed quantitative estimates of the possible improvement in geoid determination when adding such clock measurements to existing data are lacking. In this context, the present work aims at evaluating the contribution of this new kind of direct measurements in determining the geopotential at high spatial resolution (10 km). We consider the Massif Central area, marked by smooth, moderate altitude mountains and volcanic plateaus leading to variations of the gravitational field over a range of spatial scales. In such type of region, the scarcity of gravity data is an important limitation in deriving accurate high resolution geopotential models. We summarize our methodology to assess the contribution of clock data in the geopotential recovery, in combination with ground gravity measurements. We sample synthetic gravity and disturbing potential data from a spherical harmonics geopotential model, and a topography model, up to 10 km resolution; we also build a potential control grid. From the synthetic data, we estimate the disturbing potential by least-squares collocation. Finally, we assess the quality of the reconstructed potential by comparing it to that of the control grid. We show that adding only a few clock data reduces the reconstruction bias significantly and improves the standard deviation by a factor 3. We discuss the role of different parameters, such as the effect of the data coverage and data quality on these results, the trade-off between the measurement noise level and the number of data, and the optimization of the clock data network. [Termes IGN] similitudeRésumé : (auteur) We address the problem of cross-domain image localization, i.e., the ability of estimating the pose of a landmark from visual content acquired under various conditions, such as old photographs, paintings, photos taken at a particular season, etc. We explore a 2D approach where the pose is estimated from geo-localized reference images that visually match the query image. This work focuses on the retrieval of similar images, which is a challenging task for images across different domains. We propose a Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) framework that adaptively combines multiple image descriptions. A regression model is used to select the best feature combinations according to their spatial complementarity, globally for a whole dataset as well as adaptively for each given image. The framework is evaluated on different datasets and the experiments prove its advantage over classical retrieval approaches. [Termes IGN] source de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) Data quality assessment of different volunteered initiatives and platforms presents several challenges for data validation given the high amount of data collected. This paper focuses on two goals. The first consists in defining both a generic workflow and data quality indicators for validation of reports coming from crowd and community sourcing platforms. In the proposed workflow, a qualified report can be even described by each indicator separately or by a combination of them. Here, we focus mostly on analyzing the results obtained for each indicator separately. The second goal is to learn more information about contributors who has engaged in a platform proposed by a public body (i.e., the French National Mapping Agency): Who are they? How are they contributing? What are their motivations? More is known about contributors to OpenStreetMap than of any other VGI platform. Indeed, knowing the contributors is a crucial task for both motivation and data quality, especially now that public institutions are engaging with VGI. [Termes IGN] interpolation spatialeRésumé : (auteur) Oblique airborne photogrammetry-based three-dimensional (3D) city model (OAP3D) provides a spatially continuous representation of urban landscapes that encompasses buildings, road networks, trees, bushes, water bodies, and topographic features. OAP3D is usually present in the form of a group of unclassified triangular meshes under a multi-resolution data structure. Modifying such a non-separable landscape constitutes a daunting task because manual mesh editing is normally required. In this paper, we present a systematic approach for easily embedding user-generated content into OAP3D. We reduce the complexity of OAP3D modification from a 3D mesh operation to a two-dimensional (2D) raster operation through the following workflow: (1) A region of interest (ROI) is selected to cover the area that is intended to be modified for accommodating user-defined content. (2) Spatial interpolation using a set of manually controlled elevation samples is employed to generate a user-defined digital surface model (DSM), which is used to reform the ROI surface. (3) User-generated objects, for example, artistically painted road textures, procedurally generated water effects, and manually created 3D building models, are overlaid onto the reformed ROI.
