[Termes IGN] vectorisationRésumé : (auteur) A large proportion of indoor spatial data is generated by parsing floor plans. However, a mature and automatic solution for generating high-quality building elements (e.g., walls and doors) and space partitions (e.g., rooms) is still lacking. In this study, we present a two-stage approach to indoor mapping and modeling (IMM) from floor plan images. The first stage vectorizes the building elements on the floor plan images and the second stage repairs the topological inconsistencies between the building elements, separates indoor spaces, and generates indoor maps and models. To reduce the shape complexity of indoor boundary elements, i.e., walls and openings, we harness the regularity of the boundary elements and extract them as rectangles in the first stage. Furthermore, to resolve the overlaps and gaps of the vectorized results, we propose an optimization model that adjusts the rectangle vertex coordinates to conform to the topological constraints. Experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves a considerable improvement in room detection without conforming to Manhattan World Assumption. Our approach also outputs instance-separate walls with consistent topology, which enables direct modeling into Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) or City Geography Markup Language (CityGML). [Termes IGN] surveillance d'ouvrageRésumé : (Auteur) L’instrumentation et la télésurveillance des structures, qui visent à suivre en continu et en temps réel l’évolution de leurs comportements, sont aujourd’hui des éléments clés des politiques de gestion des parcs d’ouvrages. Le conseil départemental de la Seine-Maritime (76) a fait appel à l’IGN (Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière) pour instrumenter le pont de Brotonne à l’aide d’un réseau d’une douzaine de stations GNSS “bas coût” Géocube à partir de 2017. L’objectif de cette instrumentation est de compléter le suivi géométrique de l’ouvrage assuré par des relevés topographiques périodiques. Dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche en collaboration entre SITES, l’Université Gustave Eiffel et l’IGN, visant à étudier le potentiel des outils GNSS pour la surveillance de santé structurale des ouvrages d’art, les données acquises sur le pont de Brotonne sur la période 2017-2018 ont été analysées. Dans cet article, nous proposons une étude globale de la qualité des données à travers leur disponibilité, la comparaison aux comportements attendus par parties d’ouvrages et la comparaison avec les données thermiques disponibles. Its quality is adequate for many applications, but since it is crowd-sourced, errors remain an issue. Errors in associated tags of the road network, for example, are impacting routing applications. Particularly road classification errors often lead to false assumptions about capacity, maximum speed, or road quality, possibly resulting in detours for routing applications. This study aims at finding potential classification errors automatically, which can then be checked and corrected by a human expert. We develop a novel approach to detect road classification errors in OSM by searching for disconnected parts and gaps in different levels of a hierarchical road network. Different parameters are identified that indicate gaps in road networks. These parameters are then combined in a rating system to obtain an error probability to suggest possible misclassifications to a human user. The methodology is applied to an exemplar case for the state of New South Wales in Australia. The results demonstrate that (1) more classification errors are found at gaps than at disconnected parts, and (2) the gap search enables the user to find classification errors quickly using the developed rating system that indicates an error probability. In future work, the methodology can be extended to include available tags in OSM for the rating system. The source code of the implementation is available via GitHub. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Robust approaches for image change detection (ICD) are essential for a range of large-scale applications. However, the uncertainties involved in such approaches have not been fully addressed. To investigate this problem, this paper proposes a new approach for change detection from multi-temporal very high resolution (VHR) satellite imagery based on uncertainty detection and management. First, two GeoEye-1 images of Giza urban area (Egypt), acquired in 2009 and 2019, have been geographically co-registered and their histograms have been matched. Second, a set of feature attributes have been generated from the co-registered images. Third, the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm has been adopted to classify the data into four classes: building, tree, road, and ground. In this regard, the co-registered images along with the generated attributes have been applied as input data for the SVM to calculate the probability of each pixel belonging to each class. After that, the probability images for both epochs have been compared to model the uncertainty of changes. The uncertainty places are then evaluated to estimate their likelihood of being change or no change. Finally, the obtained results have been compared with manually digitized change detection map. Compared with using the widely used post-classification comparison (PCC) approach, the results suggest that (1) the proposed method has improved the overall accuracy of change detection by 13%; (2) the class-accuracies have been improved by 35.63%; and (3) the achieved accuracies for the proposed approach are less variable. Whereas the standard deviation (SD) of the accuracies obtained for the proposed approach is 6.80, the SD of those obtained for the PCC approach is 35.50. We define structured geographic objects as collections of adjacent areas with homogeneous semantics that are regularly arranged as spatial structures. Existing studies have concentrated on unstructured objects, which will lead to the structured ones losing part or even most of the typical characteristics during merging. Therefore, as a supplement to the existing mature merging method, a targeted method was proposed in this paper to address the merging problem of structured geographic objects. First, structured geographic objects were classified into four typical patterns, and they were identified automatically according to seven spatial structure parameters. Second, a Miter-type buffer transformation was introduced to extract the overall boundary of structured geographic objects, and areas inside the overall boundary were processed with the most appropriate merging operations for their pattern. Finally, the corresponding merged results of structured geographic objects were inserted back into the merged result of the original land-cover data by using the NOT operation, and the spatial conflicts near the boundary were adjusted. We test our method for a dataset of geographical census data for a city in China. The experimental results revealed that compared with state-of-the-art method, the proposed method produces more reasonable generalization result by effectively identifying and maintaining the typical spatial structures; moreover, the proposed method also preserves the planar tessellation characteristic of land-cover data and the balance of area variation in each land-cover class.
