[Termes IGN] recherche d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes an approach to using evolutionary algorithms for reasoning about paths through network data. The paths investigated in the context of this research are functional paths wherein the characteristics (e.g., path length, morphology, location) of the path are integral to the objective purpose of the path. Using two datasets of combined surface and road networks, the research demonstrates how an evolutionary algorithm can be used to reason about functional paths. We present the algorithm approach, the parameters and fitness function that drive the functional aspects of the path, and an approach for using the algorithm to respond to dynamic changes in the search space. The results of the search process are presented in terms of the overall success based on the response of the search to variations in the environment and through the use of an occupancy grid characterizing the overall search process. The approach offers a great deal of flexibility over more conventional heuristic path finding approaches and offers additional perspective on dynamic network analysis. [Termes IGN] web 2.0Résumé : (Auteur) Efficient environment monitoring has become a major concern for society to guarantee sustainable development. For instance, forest fire detection and analysis is important to provide early warning systems and identify impact. In this environmental context, availability of up-to-date information is very important for reducing damages caused. Environmental applications are deployed on top of Geospatial Information Infrastructures (GIIs) to manage information pertaining to our environment. Such infrastructures are traditionally top-down infrastructures that do not consider user participation. This provokes a bottleneck in content publication and therefore a lack of content availability. On the contrary mainstream IT systems and in particular the emerging Web 2.0 Services allow active user participation that is becoming a massive source of dynamic geospatial resources. In this paper, we present a web service that implements a standard interface, offers a unique entry point for spatial data discovery, both in GII services and web 2.0 services. We introduce a prototype as proof of concept in a forest fire scenario, where we illustrate how to leverage scientific data and web 2.0 content. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Both Geographic Information Systems and Information Retrieval have been very active research fields in the last decades. Lately, a new research field called Geographic Information Retrieval has appeared from the intersection of these two fields. The main goal of this field is to define index structures and techniques to efficiently store and retrieve documents using both the text and the geographic references contained within the text. We present in this paper two contributions to this research field. First, we propose a new index structure that combines an inverted index and a spatial index based on an ontology of geographic space. This structure improves the query capabilities of other proposals. Then, we describe the architecture of a system for geographic information retrieval that defines a workflow for the extraction of the geographic references in documents. The architecture also uses the index structure that we propose to solve pure spatial and textual queries as well as hybrid queries that combine both a textual and a spatial component. Furthermore, query expansion can be performed on geographic references because the index structure is based in an ontology. [Termes IGN] recherche d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Our contribution is dedicated to geographic information contained in unstructured textual documents. The main focus of this article is to propose a general indexing strategy that is dedicated to spatial information, but which could be applied to temporal and thematic information as well. More specifically, we have developed a process flow that indexes the spatial information contained in textual documents. This process flow interprets spatial information and computes corresponding accurate footprints. Our goal is to normalize such heterogeneous grained and scaled spatial information (points, polylines, polygons). This normalization is carried out at the index level by grouping spatial information together within spatial areas and by using statistics to compute frequencies for such areas and weights for the retrieved documents.
