[Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) In recent years, linear features have been gradually integrated into photogrammetry-related applications to estimate orientation parameters and facilitate object reconstruction, to name just a few. Yet, the correspondence of the conjugate linear features between different spaces or coordinate systems remains crucial to the goal of photogrammetric automation. When establishing exterior orientation of images on the line feature basis, the identifications and measurements of control line features must be involved. In this study, the authors develop an approach for effectively matching line features between object space and image space. The proposed algorithms start from projecting 3D line features into 2D image space employing collinearity equations with approximate orientation parameters. Then, the candidate lines detected from the images are chosen and matched with the 3D line features by imposing, in a sequential manner, geometric constraints that include angle, distance, reference point, and imaging geometry checks. Furthermore, a two-stage matching strategy, where the outcome of the first matching stage by partial 3D line features provides confined matching candidates for the second matching stage, is found effective in lowering the computational load, especially when faced with a great amount of 3D line features. Preliminary tests demonstrate successful, as well as satisfactory, 3D to 2D line feature correspondences using the proposed approach and strategy. We first present why this issue is complex through an analysis of the differences that can be encountered between networks. We also present different criteria, tools and approaches used for network matching. We then propose a matching process, named NetMatcher. This process is a several steps process looking for potential candidates and then analysing them in order to determine the final results. It relies on the comparison of geometrical, attributive, and topological properties of objects. It determines one-to-many links between networks: in particular a node of the less detailed network can be matched to several arcs and nodes forming a complex junction in the most detailed network. An important strength of the process is to self-evaluate its results through the comparison of topological organisation of networks. This paves the way to an interactive editing of the results. The NetMatcher process has been intensively tested on a wide range of actual datasets, thus highlighting its effectiveness as well as its limits. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) Road junctions are important components of a road network. However, they are usually not explicitly modelled in existing road extraction approaches. In this research, road junctions are modelled in detail as area objects and an approach is proposed for their automatic extraction through the use of an existing geospatial database. Prior knowledge derived from a topographic geospatial database is used to facilitate the extraction. A new snake-based approach is proposed that makes use of the "ziplock snake" concept and whose external force is a combination of the gradient vector flow (GVF) force and the balloon force in order to delineate the junction border. Road arm extraction results provide fixed boundary conditions for the proposed snake. The approach was tested using aerial black-and-white Digital Mapping Camera (DMC) ortho-images of 0·1 m ground resolution taken from suburban and rural areas. The results obtained demonstrate the validity of this approach. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The extended 9-intersection matrix is used to formalize topological relations between uncertain regions while it is designed to satisfy the requirements at a concept level, and to deal with the complex regions with broad boundaries (CBBRs) as a whole without considering their hierarchical structures. In contrast to simple regions with broad boundaries, CBBRs have complex hierarchical structures. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account the complex hierarchical structure and to represent the topological relations between all regions in CBBRs as a relation matrix, rather than using the extended 9-intersection matrix to determine topological relations. In this study, a tree model is first used to represent the intrinsic configuration of CBBRs hierarchically. Then, the reasoning tables are presented for deriving topological relations between child, parent and sibling regions from the relations between two given regions in CBBRs. Finally, based on the reasoning, efficient methods are proposed to compute and derive the topological relation matrix. The proposed methods can be incorporated into spatial databases to facilitate geometric-oriented applications.
