[Termes IGN] modélisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) Recently, linear features in remotely sensed imagery have gained much attention because of their unique characteristics compared to other control features. For georeferencing high-resolution satellite images, the observations in the mathematical equations (slope and y-intercept) of the corresponding control lines in the two spaces are considered the same based on recent studies. However, the use of such assumptions causes error and reduces the accuracy of registration. The aim of this article is to present a methodology based on a quasi-observation assumption in the mathematical equations in the process of georeferencing. Experimental results for IKONOS and GeoEye images over two different cities of Iran indicate that the quasi-observation assumption can increase the average registration accuracy up to 48.96% and 24.77% using 3D-affine and rational function models, respectively. This improvement in accuracy increases the processing time by 31.48% over traditional approaches; however, the proposed methodology can be regarded as an efficient solution. Humans are capable of reasoning about 3D spatial relations even from a single 2D image. However, making the priors that we rely on explicit and integrating them into computer programs is very challenging. Operating directly on 3D input data, such as 3D point clouds, alleviates the need to lift 2D data into a 3D representation within the task-specific algorithm and hence reduces the complexity of the problem. The 3D point clouds are not only a better-suited input data representation, but they are also becoming increasingly easier to acquire. Indeed, nowadays, LiDAR sensors are even integrated into consumer devices such as mobile phones. However, these sensors often have a limited field of view, and hence multiple acquisitions are required to cover the whole area of interest. Between these acquisitions, the sensor has to be moved and pointed in a different direction. Moreover, the world that surrounds us is also dynamic and might change as well. Reasoning about the motion of both the sensor and the environment, based on point clouds acquired in two-time steps, is therfore an integral part of point cloud processing. This thesis focuses on incorporating rigidity priors into novel deep learning based approaches for dynamic 3D perception from point cloud data. Specifically, the tasks of point cloud registration, deformation analysis, and scene flow estimation are studied. At first, these tasks are incorporated into a common framework where the main difference is in the level of rigidity assumptions that are imposed on the motion of the scene or
the acquisition sensor. Then, the tasks specific priors are proposed and incorporated into novel deep learning architectures. While the global rigidity can be assumed in point cloud registration, the motion patterns in deformation analysis and scene flow estimation are more complex. Therefore, the global rigidity prior has to be relaxed to local or instancelevel rigidity, respectively. Rigidity priors not only add structure to the aforementioned tasks, which prevents physically implausible estimates and improves the generalization of the algorithms, but in some cases also reduce the supervision requirements. The proposed approaches were quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated on several datasets, and they yield favorable performance compared to the state-of-the-art.

Note de contenu : 1. Introduction

[Termes IGN] StéréopolisRésumé : (auteur) The growing deployment of multi-head camera systems encouraged the emergence of specific processing algorithms, able to face the challenges posed by slanted view geometry. Such multi-camera systems are rigidly tied by their manufacturers hence the exploitation of this internal constraint should be further exploited. Several approaches have been proposed to deal with orientation constraints, with the aim of reducing the number of unknowns, computational time and possibly improve the accuracy. In this paper we compare the results provided by publicly available implementations in order to further investigate the advantages of enforcing relative orientation constraints for aerial and terrestrial triangulation of multi-head camera systems. Data from a Leica CityMapper and a Stereopolis-Ladybug are considered, reporting how constrained solution can improve accuracy with respect to traditional (unconstrained) bundle block adjustment solutions. [Termes IGN] synchronisationRésumé : (Auteur) Precise georeferencing of airborne full-waveform lidar is a complex process. On one hand, no ground control points are visible due to heavy canopy. While on the other hand, precise georeferencing relies on ground control. As an alternative, we propose to use an available digital elevation model (DEM ) as control. The mathematical framework minimizes the difference between the lidar DEM and the reference DEM. Our solution consists of two steps: initial optimization to find reliable ground points through iterative filtering and georeferencing, and fine optimization to achieve precise georeferencing and lidar system calibration. Through this approach, the wave-form-derived DEM can best fit the reference DEM, with a mean of 0.937 m and standard deviation of 0.792 m, while the time-synchronization offset and boresight angles are simultaneously determined, i.e., self-calibrated. This development provides a novel georeferencing approach with self-calibration for lidar data without using conventional ground control points.
