[Termes IGN] point de fuiteRésumé : (Auteur) Camera calibration is a fundamental task in photogrammetry and computer vision. This paper presents an approach for the automatic estimation of interior orientation from images with three vanishing points of orthogonal directions. Extraction of image line segments and their clustering into groups corresponding to three dominant vanishing points are performed without any human interaction. Camera parameters (camera constant, location of principal point, and two coefficients of radial lens distortion) and the vanishing points are estimated in a one-step adjustment of all participating image points. The approach may function in a single image mode, but is also capable of handling input from independent images (i.e. images not necessarily of the same object) with three and/or two vanishing points in a common solution. The reported experimental tests indicate that, within certain limits, results from single images compare satisfactorily with those from multi-image bundle adjustment. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents the Automatic Registration of Remote-Sensing Images (ARRSI); an automatic registration system built to register satellite and aerial remotely sensed images. The system is designed specifically to address the problems associated with the registration of remotely sensed images obtained at different times and/or from different sensors. The ARRSI system is capable of handling remotely sensed images geometrically distorted by various transformations such as translation, rotation, and shear. Global and local contrast issues associated with remotely sensed images are addressed in ARRSI using control-point detection and matching processes based on a phase-congruency model. Intensity-difference issues associated with multimodal registration of remotely sensed images are addressed in ARRSI through the use of features that are invariant to intensity mappings during the control-point matching process. An adaptive control-point matching scheme is employed in ARRSI to reduce the performance issues associated with the registration of large remotely sensed images. Finally, a variation on the Random Sample and Consensus algorithm called Maximum Distance Sample Consensus is introduced in ARRSI to improve the accuracy of the transformation model between two remotely sensed images while minimizing computational overhead. The ARRSI system has been tested using various satellite and aerial remotely sensed images and evaluated based on its accuracy and computational performance. The results indicate that the registration accuracy of ARRSI is comparable to that produced by a human expert and improvement over the baseline and multimodal sum of squared differences registration techniques tested. [Termes IGN] spatial metricsRésumé : (Auteur) This paper aims to present a new approach for automatic extraction of building footprints in a combination of the IKONOS imagery with pan-sharpened multi-spectral bands and the low-sampled (not, vert, similar 0.1 points/m2) airborne laser scanning data acquired from the Optech's 1020 ALTM (Airborne Laser Terrain Mapper). Initially, a laser point cluster in 3D object space was recognized as an isolated building object if all the member points were similarly attributed as building points by investigating the height property of laser points and the normalized difference vegetation indices (NDVI) driven from IKONOS imagery. As modelling cues, rectilinear lines around building outlines collected by either data-driven or model-driven manner were integrated in order to compensate the weakness of both methods. Finally, a full description of building outlines was accomplished by merging convex polygons, which were obtained as a building region was hierarchically divided by the extracted lines using the Binary Space Partitioning (BSP) tree. The system performance was evaluated by objective evaluation metrics in comparison to the Ordnance Survey's MasterMap®. This evaluation showed the delineation performance of up to 0.11 (the branching factor) and the detection percentage of 90.1% (the correctness) and the overall quality of 80.5%. [Termes IGN] orientation interneRésumé : (Auteur) The linear push-broom camera is one of the most important imaging systems in modern photogrammetry and remote sensing to collect high-resolution digital panchromatic and multispectral images for comprehensive evaluation of natural resources and environmental conditions. Most commercial high-resolution satellites such as SPOT-5, Ikonos-2, and QuickBird use similar sensors. Airborne sensors such as the ADS40 and STARIMAGER® also use the push-broom approach to collect multi-channel, seamless image strips for linear objects such as roads, railways, rivers, seashores, electric power lines, pipe lines, and high-rise building areas. Other commercial hyperspectral sensors also use the push-broom approach to collect digital images for remote sensing applications.
High performance linear cameras require high resolution geometric, spectral, and radiometric calibration. This topic has not been covered in the scientific literature. Although the self-calibration is successful to compute the calibration parameters of frame camera, it is denied in our tests since the linear camera’s calibrated parameters are dependent on the accuracy of on-board GPS/IMU position and attitude data. In this paper, a rigorous calibration method is presented. This approach has been successfully used in our developed airborne three-line scanner (TLS) imaging system STARIMAGER® in the last five years. The method can accurately compute TLS’s focal length, principle point location, lens distortion, CCD pixel size, CCD curve deformation, and convergence angles between each CCD line sensor on the focal plane. Without any modification, it can be directly applied to single linear sensors and multi-linear sensors. [Termes IGN] valeur radiométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) Existing image fusion techniques such as the intensity–hue–saturation (IHS) transform and principal components analysis (PCA) methods may not be optimal for fusing the new generation commercial high-resolution satellite images such as Ikonos and QuickBird. One problem is color distortion in the fused image, which causes visual changes as well as spectral differences between the original and fused images. In this paper, a fast Fourier transform (FFT)-enhanced IHS method is developed for fusing new generation high-resolution satellite images. This method combines a standard IHS transform with FFT filtering of both the panchromatic image and the intensity component of the original multispectral image. Ikonos and QuickBird data are used to assess the FFT-enhanced IHS transform method. Experimental results indicate that the FFT-enhanced IHS transform method may improve upon the standard IHS transform and the PCA methods in preserving spectral and spatial information.
