[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) We present a rigorous method for estimating some of the calibration parameters in airborne laser scanning (ALS), namely the three bore-sight angles and the range-finder offset. The technique is based on expressing the system calibration parameters within the direct-georeferencing equation separately for each target point, and conditioning a group of points to lie on a common surface of a known form such as a plane. However, the assumed a priori information about á chosen planar features is only their form not the spatial orientation or position. Thus, the 4·á plane parameters are estimated together with the calibration parameters in a combined adjustment model that makes use of GPS/INS-derived position and orientation as well as LiDAR range and encoder angle as observations. To make the approach practical when working with voluminous ALS and GPS/INS data, the contribution of each laser point to the normal equations is formed sequentially. The discussions focus on practical examples with data from a continuously-rotating scanner that reveal the conditions under which almost complete de-correlation between the estimated parameters occurs. In such a case, all bore-sight angles are determined with accuracy that is several times superior to the system noise level. Given sufficiently strong geometry, the presented method is shown to be not only accurate but also very robust in terms of convergence. When appropriate, the method is applicable for calibration of additional systematic effects such as laser-beam encoder offsets or scale factor with minimal modification to the functional model. [Termes IGN] prise de vue terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we address the orientation of ground-level motion imagery captured by sensors roaming in an urban area. We investigate the use of building façades (instead of traditional points), as matching features for ground-level motion imagery orientation. We assume a situation where few images in our sequence are already absolutely oriented, and present a novel approach to orient all remaining in between image sequences relative to them. This innovative version of dependent orientation allows us to propagate orientation information within sequences of ground level imagery, establishing a novel orientation scheme. Experimental results show accuracies on the order of 0.18 to 0.29 degrees in rotation estimation, and 0.17 to 0.29 meters in camera position determination. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) Airborne scanning LiDAR is a spatial technology increasingly used for forestry and environmental applications. However, the accuracy and coverage of LiDAR observations is highly dependent on both the extrinsic specifications of the LiDAR survey as well as the intrinsic effects such as the underlying forest structure. Extrinsic parameters which are set as part of the LiDAR survey include platform altitude, scan angle (half max. angle off nadir), and beam cross sectional diameter at the reflecting surface (referred to as footprint size). In this paper we investigate the effect of a number of these extrinsic parameters, including three different platform altitudes (1000, 2000, and 3000 m), two scan angles at 1000 m (10° and 15° half max. angle off nadir), and three footprint sizes (0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 m). The comparison was undertaken in eucalypt forests at three sites, varying in vegetation structure and topography within the Wedding Bells State Forest, Coffs Harbour, Australia. Results at the plot scale (40 * 90 m areas) indicate that tree heights computed from the 1000 m LiDAR data set (10° half max. angle off nadir) are well correlated with maximum plot heights (difference 0.75, p Numéro de notice : A2006-320 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET/IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.rse.2006.03.003 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.2006.03.003 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=28044

[Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper the calibration of Optech ALTM 3100 laser scanner intensity is reported using airborne experiments and known brightness targets. The Finnish Geodetic Institute has had a permanent photogrammetric test field in Sjokulla Kirkkonummi since 1994. This test field contains permanent and transportable test targets for radiometric calibration, permanent ground control points for small, medium and large-scale geometric calibration and also test bar targets for spatial analysis of analogue and digital aerial cameras. Since 2000 LiDAR testing has also been carried out, the latest being Optech ALTM 3100 campaign in 12-14 July 2005. Eight portable brightness targets with nominal reflectance of 5 %, 10 %, 20 %, 25 %, 30 %, 45 %, 50 % and 70 % were in use for LiDAR testing. Flying heights were about 200, 1000 and 3000 m above ground level. Intensity values need to be corrected with respect to range, incidence angle (both BRDF and range correction), atmospheric transmittance, attenuation using dark object addition and transmitted power (because difference in PRF will lead to different transmitter power values). After these corrections, the intensity values were directly relative to target reflectance. Flight heights of 200 m and 1000 m are suitable for intensity calibration using artificial test targets due to the practical aspects of the calibration (size of the calibrator). With the 3000 m altitude signals with reflectance of less or equal of 10% could not be recorded most probably due to insufficient signal-to-noise ratio. Thus, the test target reflectance should exceed 10% to give a reliable distance measurement from 3000 m altitude.
