[Termes IGN] système à base de connaissancesRésumé : (auteur) Education is one of the multiple services that ecosystems and landscapes provide to societies. Despite its importance to formal and informal learning and nature-based, cognitive tourism, it is hardly taken into account in the various quantification approaches of ecosystem services. The article provides an overview of landscape educational values and the educational ecosystem service. Here, the forms of the use of landscape educational values have been summarised and the indicators for the quantification of the educational ecosystem service proposed in the literature reviewed. The criteria for the evaluation of the educational values of landscape were acquired from the literature and discussed. In order to obtain more practical viewpoints on those criteria, an exploratory survey with young experts (n = 37) from two universities of environmental sciences was conducted. Within this step, the expert method for the evaluation of the educational values of landscapes was applied. However, the results show an extremely high level of subjectivity and dependence on personal experience regarding outdoor environmental education. Nonetheless, the article can contribute to acquiring knowledge in cultural ecosystem service assessment and the application of this concept, especially in terms of the criteria and indicators which can be potentially used for the assessments. [Vedettes matières IGN] Inventaire forestierRésumé : (auteur) The objective of this study is to develop a method based on multivariate relevance vector regression (MVRVR) as a kernelbased Bayesian model for the estimation of above-ground biomass (AGB) in the Hyrcanian forests of Iran. Field AGB data from the Hyrcanian forests and multi-temporal PALSAR backscatter values are used for training and testing the methods. The results of the MVRVR method are then compared with other methods: multivariate linear regression (MLR), multilayer perceptron neural network (MLPNN), and support vector regression (SVR). The MLR model showed lower values of R2 than the three other approaches. Although the SVR model was found to be more accurate than MLPNN, it had the lowest saturation point of 224.75 Mg/ha. The use of MVRVR model significantly improves the estimation of AGB (R2 = 0.90; RMSE = 32.05 Mg/ha), and the model showed a superior performance in estimating AGB with the highest saturation point (297.81 Mg/ha). [Termes IGN] masse de la TerreRésumé : (Auteur) Geophysical processes cause a redistribution of masses within system Earth called mass transport. This mass transport induces variations in the observed gravity field of the Earth. A common scientific approach to draw conclusions about geophysical processes is to determine the imprint of individual geophysical processes in observed gravity field variations. For this purpose, modelers follow a sequence of specialized steps. From this sequence, we identified in close collaboration with Earth system modelers at the German Research Center for GeoSciences (GFZ) steps that can significantly benefit from Visual Analytics: (a) finding an applicable release of observed gravity field variations that exhibit the geophysical process of interest (b) separating individual geophysical processes in observed gravity field variations and (c) confirming the reduction of observed gravity field variations to the geophysical process of interest. We identified important analytical requirements for our Visual Analytics approach based on a user- and task-centered design. By providing tailored support for the identified requirements, our Visual Analytics approach provides a valuable expansion of the modeler’s toolbox.
