[Vedettes matières IGN] CartologieRésumé : (auteur) This article presents an overview of School Cartography in Brazil, demonstrating how academic research in the area has influenced official documents proposed by the Ministry of Education, the teaching of Cartography in Basic Education, and the curricula of undergraduate courses in Geography. The purpose of this study is to understand the role of cartography in the teaching of geography and how learning through maps has contributed more intensively to the formation of Brazilian citizens from the 1990s onward, at the same time that cartography-related content has become more and more present in schools at the primary level in Brazil, and the text discusses this process. It also presents the background of the Tactile Cartography in Brazil, discussing the importance of reflecting the process of adapting graphic/visual representations to tactile representations, in the context of Cartographic Communication and its contribution to the teaching of cartography from an inclusive perspective. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Landslide susceptibility is an important topic mainly because its geo-spatial analysis provides a useful tool for planning, disaster management and hazard mitigation. In this study, the aim is to identify and analyze landslide susceptibility at a local spatial scale, which is represented by the town of Handlová, using the multi-criteria evaluation (i.e., the analytical hierarchy process technique – AHP) and geographic information systems (GIS). The following landslide conditioning factors were selected representing the local terrain predispositions: slope angle, geology, slope aspect, elevation, distance from rivers, distance from faults and land use. The raster-based analysis was performed using the spatial resolution of 10 × 10 m. The weights for each factor were determined by the AHP technique where slope angle had the highest relative importance. Based on the resulting susceptibility map, 51.98% out of the total study area is characterized by high and very high susceptibility class. The Atlas of Slope Stability of the Slovak Republic, which contains past landslides until 2006, was used for verification of the results. The verification confirmed a moderate accuracy between the landslide susceptibility map and landslide inventory from the atlas since 60.8% of all landslide areas from the atlas corresponded with high and very high susceptibility class. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) This research is motivated by the widespread use of desktop environments in the lab and by the recent trend of conducting real-world eye-tracking experiments to investigate pedestrian navigation. Despite the existing significant differences between the real world and the desktop environments, how pedestrians’ visual behavior in real environments differs from that in desktop environments is still not well understood. Here, we report a study that recorded eye movements for a total of 82 participants while they were performing five common navigation tasks in an unfamiliar urban environment (N = 39) and in a desktop environment (N = 43). By analyzing where the participants allocated their visual attention, what objects they fixated on, and how they transferred their visual attention among objects during navigation, we found similarities and significant differences in the general fixation indicators, spatial fixation distributions and attention to the objects of interest. The results contribute to the ongoing debate over the validity of using desktop environments to investigate pedestrian navigation by providing insights into how pedestrians allocate their attention to visual stimuli to accomplish navigation tasks in the two environments. [Termes IGN] zone urbaine denseRésumé : (auteur) The urban geological environment risk assessment is based on the research and analysis of the main geological environmental problems of the city, comprehensively assessing the risk of urban geological environment problems and the possible losses, and studying the degree of matching between the natural and social attributes of the geological environment. According to the urban planning of Zhengzhou City, the different types of functional areas of the city were used as evaluation objects, and the analytic hierarchy-composite index model was used to evaluate the geological environment risk and social economic vulnerability. The risk assessment model was used to evaluate the geological environment risk of Zhengzhou City. The evaluation results show that the area of high-risk area in Zhengzhou accounts for 4.05%; the area of medium-high risk area accounts for 12.89%; the area of medium-low and low-risk area accounts for 83.06%. According to the assessment results, suggestions are put forward to provide service for the urban planning, development and risk management.
Highlights:
* An urban geo-environment risk assessment technique system combining with the AHP - composite index assessment model is proposed.
* Different types of functional zones in Zhengzhou City are taken as assessment units.
* Geo-environment risk in Zhengzhou City is qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated.Numéro de notice : A2020-565 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/19475705.2019.1701571 Date de publication en ligne : 27/12/2019 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/19475705.2019.1701571 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=95890

[Termes IGN] rayonnement proche infrarougeRésumé : (auteur) Measuring the amount of vegetation in a given area on a large scale has long been accomplished using satellite and aerial imaging systems. These methods have been very reliable in measuring vegetation coverage accurately at the top of the canopy, but their capabilities are limited when it comes to identifying green vegetation located beneath the canopy cover. Measuring the amount of urban and suburban vegetation along a street network that is partially beneath the canopy has recently been introduced with the use of Google Street View (GSV) images, made accessible by the Google Street View Image API. Analyzing green vegetation through the use of GSV images can provide a comprehensive representation of the amount of green vegetation found within geographical regions of higher population density, and it facilitates an analysis performed at the street-level. In this paper we propose a fine-tuned color based image filtering and segmentation technique and we use it to define and map an urban green environment index. We deployed this image processing method and, using GSV images as a high-resolution GIS data source, we computed and mapped the green index of Milwaukee County, a 3,082 km2 urban/suburban county in Wisconsin. This approach generates a high-resolution street-level vegetation estimate that may prove valuable in urban planning and management, as well as for researchers investigating the correlation between environmental factors and human health outcomes.
