[Termes IGN] programmation par contraintesRésumé : (Auteur) New, free and fast growing spatial data sources have appeared online, based on Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI). OpenStreetMap (OSM) is one of the most representative projects of this trend. Its increasing popularity and density makes the study of its data quality an imperative. A common approach is to compare OSM with a reference dataset. In such cases, data matching is necessary for the comparison to be meaningful, and is usually performed manually at the data preparation stage. This article proposes an automated feature-based matching method specifically designed for VGI, based on a multi-stage approach that combines geometric and attribute constraints. It is applied to the OSM dataset using the official data from Ordnance Survey as the reference dataset. The results are then used to evaluate data completeness of OSM in several case studies in the UK. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) We describe an approach for improving the robustness to misregistration of pixel-wise anomalous change detection (ACD) algorithms. The aim of ACD is to distinguish actual anomalous changes from the irrelevant incidental differences that occur throughout the scene. For such change detection to be effective, it is important that corresponding pixels in the two images of interest correspond to the same location in the scene. Indeed, one of the most confounding sources of incidental differences is the inevitable imprecision in the coregistration of the two images. We address this with small local adjustments to the coregistration which leads to a modified misregistration-insensitive measure of anomalousness. Several variants are considered, and the resulting performance improvements are evaluated using both real and simulated changes, and real and simulated misregistration. [Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) We propose a novel method to select long-term coherent targets from a set of repeated-pass interferometric acquisitions. The major assumption is that targets are so close together to share the same optical path. This leads to an efficient singular-value-decomposition-based estimator of the targets' phase and, then, to PS detection. The estimated phase can be used to define the PS coherence for each image. Being sensitive to acquisition and processing artifacts, the PS coherence is a valuable tool for quality assessment of the interferometric stack. Results are shown with real data sets in both single and full polarizations. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) As a result of new sensors and methodologies that allow for faster and more accurate data acquisition, the production of highly detailed 3D models is becoming part of the standard workflow in many disciplines – architecture, cultural heritage, urban planning, and others. At the same time, new related problems have emerged concerning the management of the resulting large datasets and the integration of data coming from different sources. Data integration among heterogeneous datasets can lead to a variety of errors, and the reasons for these errors are multiple including geometric, topological or semantic incompatibilities, different resolutions and accuracies, and data acquired at different times. To overcome such errors, the integration of heterogeneous datasets requires appropriate homogenisation techniques. This article presents a new deterministic approach for the integration of a high resolution surface model and a lower resolution surface model, both given as triangular meshes embedded in 3D space, by means of a transition surface. The method can be applied after both datasets have been aligned. The derivation of the transition surface exploits extra data that are typically available in the high resolution model. These extra data (e.g. quite common when using a laser scanner) must be 2.5D and located around the high resolution model, they represent a sort of planimetric buffer around the high resolution object that can be thought as a “collar”. The proposed method generates a geometrically and topologically sound and continuous 2.5D surface that integrates the two models using the data contained in the collar. It takes into account the different quality aspects of the low and high resolution models such as point height, point density, and height gradient, and then creates a transition surface that interpolates these aspects between the embedded high resolution model and the surrounding low resolution model. The article also presents some experimental results, obtained from real datasets, and concludes with some remaining issues and possible improvements to the method. [Termes IGN] qualité des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) In recent years the integration of spatial data coming from different sources has become a crucial issue for many geographical applications, especially in the process of building and maintaining a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI). In such context new methodologies are necessary in order to acquire and update spatial datasets by collecting new measurements from different sources. The traditional approach implemented in GIS systems for updating spatial data does not usually consider the accuracy of these data, but just replaces the old geometries with the new ones. The application of such approach in the case of an SDI, where continuous and incremental updates occur, will lead very soon to an inconsistent spatial dataset with respect to spatial relations and relative distances among objects. This paper addresses such problem and proposes a framework for representing multi-accuracy spatial databases, based on a statistical representation of the objects geometry, together with a method for the incremental and consistent update of the objects, that applies a customized version of the Kalman filter. Moreover, the framework considers also the spatial relations among objects, since they represent a particular kind of observation that could be derived from geometries or be observed independently in the real world. Spatial relations among objects need also to be compared in spatial data integration and we show that they are necessary in order to obtain a correct result in merging objects geometries.
