A new practical model is adopted to describe the relation between the two orbits of an interferometric scene. A very effective 2D phase unwrapping method is proposed and a multiple baseline phase unwrapping method for the interferograms with large baselines is described. For the DEM generation, a differential method by use of two interferograms is proposed to determine the DEM in the areas with slow surface movement. A method to estimate the horizontal velocity fields from an interferogram is also proposed in this work. All the methods proposed in this work have been demonstrated by use of the ERS-1 SAR data. For DEM generation of the test of Bonn, Germany, seven interferograms from eight ERS-1 scenes are demonstrated by use of the proposed methods. An accuracy of 4.3 m is obtained for the whole test area of 12x26 km. The ERS-1 data sets of the scene Hemmen Ice Rise, Antarctica are used to demonstrate the estimation of the horizontal velocity fields of the ice sheet around the island Hemmen Ice Rise. An accuracy of about 40cm/3 days can be obtained when only one interferogram is available. With the available ascending and descending data sets in this Antarctic area, a much higher accuracy of 1 cm/3 days can be reached. It is difficult to reach this isolated continent. Very high logistic efforts are necessary to obtain measured data. In addition, the mostly complicate meteorological conditions affect the data quality or lead to incomplete data sets. However, data from Antarctica are essential for the verification and the further development of models of global processes or phenomena. Without measurements in the physical reality such models will provide only a more or less insufficient description of the properties in those regions which are not or less covered with data.
The topic of this thesis is the modelling and parameter estimation for geodetic-glaciological questions based on a large amount of data from the region around the Schirmacher Oasis, Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica. Both classical geodetic measurements and modern space methods were considered. One focal point is the determination of a regional geoid model using gravimetric and geometric data. A point mass representation of the disturbing potential was used for the mathematical approach. This method is very robust and suitable for fitting of an irregularly distributed relative small number of data points. A global gravity field model and the influence of topographic and ice masses were handled by the remove-restore technique.
The height datum for the working area was redefined based on the results of the geoid modelling. Geoid profiles were computed from independent measurements along two geodetic-glaciological traverses and compared with the geoid model. Significant specific mass balances were obtained from repeated height determinations of identical traverse points.
The main purpose of this thesis was the compilation and comprehensive consideration of inhomogeneous data obtained during the last years. GPS turned out to be the method to integrate all these different data sets into a common framework. Although GPS measurements in high latitudes are affected by special difficulties the use of GPS has decisively improved the possibilities of geodetic research in Antarctica. The main reasons are the operationallity, the high accuracy and the weather independence of GPS methods.Numéro de notice : 56501 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Thèse étrangère Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=60039 Réservation
