[Termes IGN] système de gestion de base de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Aerial images are valuable products when dealing with both geospatial and geotemporal analysis. Nowadays, they are widely used for many different purposes and by an extensive public, including private companies, official administrations and individual users. Although in the past few years there has been an increasing interest in showing all kinds of geographical information on the World Wide Web, access to aerial imagery and its dissemination are still difficult and lack flexibility. This paper introduces an aerial imagery management system based on client–server principles, operated so as to allow users quick and efficient queries, processing and management of huge sets of photogrammetric imagery stored on raster servers. It is a novel product that is ready to provide image-based cartographic data available in public and private digital warehouses, facilitating all the required visualisations and queries, as well as geometric and radiometric processing on the fly. This paper shows the design, system architecture and various functionalities of the system in a real-life scenario. [Termes IGN] XMLRésumé : (Auteur) We propose a new, streamlined, two-step geographic visual analytics (GVA) workflow for efficient data storage and access based on a native web XML database called Tree lank coupled with a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) graphical user interface for visualization. This new storage framework promises better scalability with rapidly growing datasets available on the Internet, while also reducing data access and updating delays for collaborative GVA environments. Both improve interactivity and flexibility from an end-user perspective. The proposed framework relies on a RES 1-based web interface providing scalable and spatio-temporal read-write access to complex spatio-tem-poral datasets of structured, semi-structured, or unstructured data. The clean separation of client and server at the HTTP web layer assures backward compatibility and better extensibility. We discuss the proposed framework and apply it on a prototype implementation employing world debt data. The excellent compression ratio of SVG as well as its fast delivery to end users are encouraging and suggest important steps have been made towards dynamic, highly interactive, and collaborative geovisual analytics environments. [Termes IGN] vue perspectiveRésumé : (Auteur) An augmented scene delivery system (ASDS) creates and distributes annotated cartographic products in real time from captured still imagery. An ASDS applies augmented reality technology to the visualization of unrestricted exterior viewsheds through an adaptive, perspective-based surface resampling model. This paper describes an ASDS testing platform, introduces a client/server model for distributing augmented scenes over the Internet, presents a linear-time algorithm for resampling dense elevation models for perspective imaging and conducts an execution analysis of the algorithm's implementation, demonstrating that augmented scenes can be constructed and delivered efficiently. The paper also presents a migration path to mobile ASDS platforms with a discussion of the remaining technological problems associated with its implementation. [Termes IGN] infrastructure nationale des données localiséesRésumé : (Auteur) This work proposes an architectural style, a pattern, for spatial data infrastructures (SDIs). This style provides a tool and a shared vocabulary to help system architects to design these infrastructures, and facilitates the exchange of knowledge about them. This style is defined under the component-and-connector architectural viewtype, extending the client-server and shared-data styles. The style has been created after analyzing six of the most relevant SDIs and geo-service architectural proposals. Several architectural elements that these proposals have not properly addressed are considered. Three real projects, with published architectural views or models, have been examined to verify the applicability of the style. The proposed style offers a systematization and refinement of knowledge about SDIs, grounded in well-known concepts in software architecture. [Termes IGN] WebSIGRésumé : (Auteur) The design and development of a highly interactive web-based, GIS-enabled atlas is reported. The atlas is a prototype, designed as a model for implementation of atlases to support government cancer-control activities. This model integrates symbolisation and design principles from print cartography, interaction strategies from exploratory geovisualisation, and web-map/web-feature service advances from GIS. The atlas has been implemented using a client-server architecture. It makes use of two open-source GIS tools, PostGIS (as the system database) and GeoServer (to connect the database to the client mapping application). The client mapping application has been built in Macromedia Flash. The entire client-server architecture is described, then direct primary emphasis is focused on the client mapping application. For this component of the system, the interface design strategy is detailed, the approach taken to implement this strategy in Flash is documented, and the mechanisms developed to build dynamic links from the client to the underlying database through the server are outlined. Features of the atlas are presented through a prototypical use scenario for a target user.
