[Termes IGN] spectromètre imageurRésumé : (Auteur) The concept of imaging spectrometry, or hyperspectral imaging, is becoming increasingly popular in scientific communities in recent years. Hyperspectral imaging data covering the spectral region between 0.4 and 2.5 um and collected from aircraft and satellite platforms have been used in the study of the earth's atmosphere, land surface, and ocean color properties, as well as on planetary missions. In order to make such quantitative studies, accurate radiometric and spectral calibrations of hyperspectral imaging data are necessary. Calibration coefficients for all detectors in an imaging spectrometer obtained in a laboratory may need to be adjusted when applied to data obtained from an aircraft or a satellite platform. Shifts in channel center wavelengths and changes in spectral resolution may occur when an instrument is airborne or spaceborne due to vibrations, and to changes in instrument temperature and pressure. In this paper, we describe an algorithm for refining spectral calibrations of imaging spectrometer data using observed features in the data itself. The algorithm is based on spectrum-matching of atmospheric water vapor, oxygen, and carbon dioxide bands, and solar Fraunhofer lines. It has been applied to real data sets acquired with airborne and spaceborne imaging spectrometers. [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) The imaging spectrometer MOS IRS-P3 was launched in March 1996 as the first example of a new generation of ocean colour sensors. It consists of three different spectrometers in the visible/near-infrared spectral region with 18 channels. The IRS-P3 mission is focused on the remote sensing of case 2 water, particularly the derivation of different water constituents in coastal waters. Due to the more complex spectral behaviour of case 2 water, a new methodological approach was developed which works directly with satellite measured top-of-atmosphere radiance and accounts for the correlation of the different water constituents as well as for the spectral shape. This paper gives an overview of the mission, the scientific goals and the development and improvement of the retrieval algorithms. The potential of the algorithm is demonstrated and examples of selected European coasts are shown. Derived maps of water constituents are presented. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) Technological advances in positioning and imaging sensors, combined with the explosion in wireless mobile communication systems that occurred during the lost decade of the twentieth century, practically redefined and substantially extended the concept of mobile mapping. The advent of the first mobile mapping systems (MMS) in the early 1990s initiated the process of establishing modern, virtually ground-control-free photogrammetry and digital mapping. By the end of the last decade, mobile mapping technology had made remarkable progress, evolving from rather simple land-based systems to more sophisticated, real-time multitasking and multisensor systems, operational in land and airborne environments. New specialized systems, based on modern imaging sensors, such as CCD (charge-coupled device) cameras, lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) and hyperspectral/multispectral scanners, are being developed, aimed at automatic data acquisition for geoinformatics, thematic mapping, land classification, terrain modeling, emergency response, homeland security, etc. This paper provides an overview of the mobile mapping concept, with a special emphasis on the MMS paradigm shift from the post-mission to near-real-time systems that occurred in the past few years. A short review of the direct georeferencing concept is given, and the major techniques (sensors) used for platform georegistration, as well as the primary radiolocation techniques based on wireless networks, are presented. An overview of the major imaging sensors and the importance of multisensor system calibration are also provided. Future perspectives of mobile mapping and its extension towards telegeoinformatics are also discussed. Some examples of mobile geospatial technology used in automatic object recognition, real-time highway centerline mapping, thematic mapping, and city modeling with lidar and multispectral imagery are included. [Termes IGN] surveillance écologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The availability of hyperspectral data is going to provide new insights for environmental studies. In this study, hyperspectral data were collected for 10 land cover types with in situ measurement and leaves of 25 subtropical tree species in laboratory measurement within the 400 900 rim spectral regions in 689 bands. These bands were subsequently filtered to 138 bands for data analysis. Principal components analysis was applied to explore the inherent data dimensions. It was found that unlike most broadband sensors from which only two dimensions, brightness and greenness, could be extracted, hyperspectral data provided additional dimensions particularly along the red edge that could help identify different land covers as well as tree species. The results of tree identification using principal components analysis were comparable to those using the raw spectral bands. Hyperspectral data analysis should be a valuable tool for environmental monitoring in the tropical and subtropical environment where a large variety of flora and habitats is found. [Termes IGN] télédétection spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) The Multiangle Imaging SpectroRadiometer, one of five science instruments aboard NASA's Terra spacecraft, was launched into earth orbit in December 1999. Acquisition of earth imagery began in February 2000, and the quality of the data is excellent. Overall, MISR has been performing superbly, though the instrument exhibits several idiosyncrasies, some of which were anticipated prior to launch. Details regarding the inflight performance of the instrument system are presented.
