[Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (Auteur) The capability of DInSAR (Differential Interferometric SAR) for precise large-scale deformation analysis has been shown in various case studies. Generally, DInSAR possesses a high potential for monitoring deformation, but only the velocity component parallel to the line-of-sight direction can be measured. An alternative approach, capable to retrieve the deformation velocity in both range and azimuth direction, is the so-called spectral diversity technique. Spectral diversity is based on a phase comparison between different sub-aperture interferograms of the scene and can generally be regarded as a high-performance technique for estimating the mis-registration between complex SAR images.
In this paper, the following questions will be discussed: how to implement the spectral diversity technique for achieving the most accurate results; how to extract the full 3D deformation vector from a combination of ascending/descending passes and how to extract a surface deformation map if the data sets are not perfectly coherent. Finally, a statistical analysis of every individual processing step and an error propagation analysis is undertaken. In order to make a quantitative analysis of the technique, ENVISAT data sets of the Bam earthquake in Iran are used.Numéro de notice : A2010-298 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2010.04.005 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2010.04.005 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=30492

[Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) The environmental satellite (ENVISAT) advanced synthetic aperture radar (ASAR) offers the opportunity for monitoring snow parameters with dual polarization and multi-incidence angle. Snow wetness is an important index for indicating snow avalanche, snowmelt runoff modelling, water supply for irrigation and hydropower stations, weather forecasts and understanding climate change. We used a first-order scattering model that includes both volume and air/snow surface scattering based on a developed inversion model to estimate snow dielectric constant, which can be further related for estimating snow wetness. Comparison with field measurement showed that the correlation coefficient for snow permittivity estimated from ASAR data was observed to be 0.8 at 95% confidence interval and model bias was observed as 2.42% by volume at 95% confidence interval. The comparison of ASAR-derived snow permittivity with ground measurements shows the average absolute error 2.5%. The snow wetness range varies from 0 to 15% by volume. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) This paper is focused on the analysis of the performance of Stable Point Network (SPN) and Coherent Pixel Technique (CPT), which are Advanced Differential Interferometry Techniques (A-DInSAR) that estimate, among other results, mean deformation velocity maps of the ground surface and displacement time series from a SAR dataset. The test site is the metropolitan area of the city of Murcia (Spain) where a moderate slow subsidence induced by the overexploitation of aquifers is present. SAR data acquired between July 1995 and August 2005 from ERS and ENVISAT sensors have been processed by the SPN and CPT techniques and compared with in situ instrumental measurements assumed as reference. Experimental results have shown that both SPN and CPT techniques provide estimates of the deformation evolution in time with an absolute difference below 6 mm consistently in all comparisons: SPN vs extensometer, CPT vs extensometer and SPN vs CPT. The proposed validation and comparison experiment between both A-DInSAR techniques has been useful to observe their differences and complementarities. [Termes IGN] TibetRésumé : (auteur) With its global coverage and all-weather imaging capability, Interferometric SAR (InSAR) has been revolutionizing our ability to image the Earth's surface and the evolution of its shape over time. In turn, this has led to many new insights into geophysical and engineering processes, such as volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides and mining activity. In this study, we used an advanced InSAR time series technique to map ground motion of an area in Northern Tibet using ENVISAT images acquired between 2003 and 2007. In order to minimise the effects of baseline decorrelation, a subset of possible pairs having a perpendicular baseline (i.e. orbital separation) of less than 400 m was chosen for the InSAR time series analysis. The time series results reveal an ‘unexpected’ nonlinear ground motion: the area of interest was relatively stable during the period from 2003 to the middle of 2004, whilst it has exhibited a nearly linear uplift of about 8 cm since the middle of 2004. Examination of high-resolution ALOS PRISM images shows that the uplift signal occurred over the Huatugou oil field and is most likely caused by water injection. This study highlights the potential of InSAR as an early detection tool of surface deformations. [Termes IGN] zone inondableRésumé : (Auteur) The Helmand River wetland represents the only fresh-water resource in southern Afghanistan and one of the least mapped water basins in the world. The relatively narrow wetland consists of mostly marshes surrounded by dry lands. In this study, we demonstrate the use of the Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) Interferometric SAR (InSAR) to detect the changes of the Helmand River wetland water level. InSAR images are combined with the geocentric water level measurements from the retracked high-rate (18-Hz) Environmental Satellite (Envisat) radar altimetry to construct absolute water level changes over the marshes. It is demonstrated that the integration of the altimeter and InSAR can provide spatio-temporal measurements of water level variation over the Helmand River marshes where in situ measurements are absent.
