[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) Small-footprint full-waveform airborne laser scanning (ALS) is a remote sensing technique capable of mapping vegetation in three dimensions with a spatial sampling of about 0.5-2 m in all directions. This is achieved by scanning the laser beam across the Earth's surface and by emitting nanosecond-long infrared pulses with a high frequency of typically 50-150 kHz. The echo signals are digitized during data acquisition for subsequent off-line waveform analysis. In addition to delivering the three-dimensional (3D) coordinates of scattering objects such as leaves or branches, full-waveform laser scanners can be calibrated for measuring the scattering properties of vegetation and terrain surfaces in a quantitative way. As a result, a number of physical observables are obtained, such as the width of the echo pulse and the backscatter cross-section, which is a measure of the electromagnetic energy intercepted and re-radiated by objects. The main aim of this study was to build up an understanding of the scattering characteristics of vegetation and the underlying terrain. It was found that vegetation typically causes a broadening of the backscattered pulse, while the backscatter cross-section is usually smaller for canopy echoes than for terrain echoes. These scattering properties allowed classification of the 3D point cloud into vegetation and non-vegetation echoes with an overall accuracy of 89.9% for a dense natural forest and 93.7% for a baroque garden area. In addition, by removing the vegetation echoes before the filtering process, the quality of the digital terrain model could be improved. D'abord, le travail consiste à établir une méthode de classification dans le but de cartographier les contours et les objets morphologiques relatifs aux coulées de lave. Une base de données étendue permet une analyse multi échelles. Il s'agit aussi de conclure sur la pertinence dans cet axe thématique du logiciel eCognition qui s'appuie sur une méthode de classification orientée objet. Un intérêt particulier est porté sur la coulée relative à l'éruption d'avril 2007. Puis deux chantiers de photogrammétries sont abordés dans un contexte d'analyse cartographique de la zone sommitale du volcan (2D) et de la coulée de 2007 (3D). Ces deux sites font l'objet d'un travail de stéréopréparation et de production d'images orthorectifiées. Le but concernant la coulée 2007 est de produire un Modèle Numérique de Terrain de haute précision. Ces traitements se placent dans un contexte d'analyse morphologique et de bilan volumique de lave émise. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Termes IGN] végétationRésumé : (Auteur) Field emissivity measurements were made of leaves collected from nine deciduous tree and agricultural plant species. The data show, for the first time, that it is possible to discriminate subtle spectral emissivity features of leaves from the natural background emission. Under conditions of controlled measurement geometry (leaves arranged to cover a flat surface), the field emissivity spectra agreed fairly well with emissivity values calculated from laboratory directional hemispherical reflectance measurements. Spectral features associated with a variety of leaf chemical constituents, including cellulose, cutin, xylan, silica, and oleanolic acid could be identified in the field emissivity data. Structural aspects of leaf surfaces also influenced spectral behavior, notably the abundance of trichomes, as well as wax thickness and texture. Field spectral measurements made at increasing distances from natural plant canopies showed progressive attenuation of the spectral emissivity features. This attenuation is ascribed to increased multiple scattering that superimposes an opposite-in-sign reflected component on the emittance, and to the increasing number of canopy voids within the instrument field of view. Errors associated with the removal of atmospheric features and with the non-isotropic thermal characteristics of canopies also contribute to the loss of spectral information at greater measurement distances. In contrast to visible and short-wave infrared data, thermal infrared spectra of broad leaf plants show considerable spectral diversity, suggesting that such data eventually could be utilized to map vegetation composition. However, remotely measuring the subtle emissivity features of leaves still presents major challenges. To be successful, sensors operating in the 8–14 um atmospheric window must have high signal-to-noise and a small enough instantaneous field of view to allow measurements of only a few leaf surfaces. Methods for atmospheric compensation, temperature–emissivity separation, and spectral feature analysis also will need to be refined to allow the recognition, and perhaps, exploitation of leaf thermal infrared spectral properties. [Termes IGN] vidéo numériqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes a six-camera multispectral digital video imaging system designed for natural resource assessment and shows its potential as a research tool. It has five visible to near-infrared light sensitive cameras, one near-infrared to mid-infrared light sensitive camera, a monitor, a computer with a multichannel digitizing board, a keyboard, a power distributor, an amplifier, and a mouse. Each camera is fitted with a narrowband interference filter, allowing the system to obtain imagery in the blue (447 - 455 nm), green (555 - 565 nm), red (625 - 635 nm), red edge (704 - 716 nm), near-infrared (814-826 nm), and mid-infrared (1631 - 1676 nm) regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Analogue video acquired by this system is converted to digital format. Radiometric resolution of the imagery is 8-bit (pixel values range 0 - 255). Images obtained by the system can be evaluated individually and/or in combination with each other to assess natural resources.
