[Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) A number of haze removal methods for, satellite imagery have been described in the literature, but few papers have quantified their effectiveness within the context of a postprocessing applications scenario. In this, paper, the haze optimized transform (HOT) approach for visibleband correction is described, and its impact on classification performance is evaluated. Assessment is conducted at three levels: radiometric level of accuracy, improvement in interclass separability, and classification accuracy. Results obtained from hazy scenes and their dehazed, counterparts are compared with those from reference or "benchmark" clear scenes. Radiometric analyses of pseudoinvariant features (dense forest stands) indicate that effective haze reduction can be realized for differential HOT response levels of up to 20 for Landsat Thematic Mapper scenes. This level of atmospheric contamination is severe enough, to result in significant thematic class confusion, wherein visibleband radiances of vegetated areas are at levels normally associated with urban features under clear sky conditions. [Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (Auteur) The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) is an earth-viewing sensor that flies on the Earth Observing System Terra and Aqua satellites, launched in 1999 and 2002, respectively. MODIS scans a swath width of 2330 km that is sufficiently wide to provide nearly complete global coverage every two days from a polar-orbiting, sun-synchronous, platform at an altitude of 705 km. MODIS provides images in 36 spectral bands between 0.415 and 14.235 um with spatial resolutions of 250 m (two bands), 500 m (five bands), and 1000 m (29 bands). These bands have been carefully selected to enable advanced studies of land, ocean, and atmospheric properties. Twenty-six bands are used to derive atmospheric properties such as cloud mask, atmospheric profiles, aerosol properties, total precipitable water, and cloud properties. In this paper we describe each of these atmospheric data products, including characteristics of each of these products such as file size, spatial resolution used in producing the product, and data availability. [Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (Auteur) Pixel fusion is used to elaborate a classification method at pixel level. It needs to take into account the more accurate as possible information and take advantage of the statistical learning of the previous measurements acquired by sensors. The classical probabilistic fusion methods lack performance when the previous learning is not representative of the real measurements provided by sensors. The DempsterShafer theory is then introduced to face this disadvantage by integrating a further information which is the context of the sensor acquisitions. In this paper, we propose a formalism of modeling of the sensor reliability to the context that leads to two methods of integration: the first one amounts to integrate this further information in the fusion rule as degrees of trust and the second models the sensor reliability directly as mass function. These two methods are compared in the case where the sensor reliability depends on an atmospheric disturbance : the water vapor.
