[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper an automated methodology is presented (i) to orient a set of close-range images captured with a calibrated camera, and (ii) to extract dense and accurate point clouds starting from the estimated orientation parameters. The whole procedure combines different algorithms and techniques in order to obtain accurate 3D reconstructions in an automatic way. The exterior orientation parameters are estimated using a photogrammetric bundle adjustment with the image correspondences detected using area- and feature-based matching algorithms. Surface measurements are then performed using advanced multi-image matching techniques based on multiple image primitives. To demonstrate the reliability, precision and robustness of the procedure, several tests on different kinds of free-form objects are illustrated and discussed in the paper. Three-dimensional comparisons with range-based data are also carried out. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a novel linear registration algorithm for lidar point clouds and aerial images without orientation parameters. First, preprocessing is conducted to classify the lidar point clouds into ground points, building points, and aboveground, non-building points. After preprocessing, the algorithm consists of two sequential steps, i.e., Tilt Displacement Correction and Height Displacement Correction. As the kernel of the proposed registration algorithm, the mathematical model for Height Displacement Correction is a set of linear formulas analytically deduced from the rigorous geometric function of a single image. The proposed registration algorithm does not require any orientation parameters for the image, which greatly lowers the requirements for image acquisition. Due to the model's linearity, the proposed algorithm is computationally efficient. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can register aerial images without orientation parameters at the same accuracy level of space resection based on collinear equations. This result fulfills the requirement for the fusion of lidar range data and aerial images in most large-scale urban modeling applications. [Termes IGN] résiduRésumé : (Auteur) This paper is focused on the potential and limits of Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSi), a powerful remote sensing technique used to measure deformation phenomena. It only refers to satellite-based PSI techniques, focusing on the most important sources of C-band SAR data: ers and Envisat. In addition, it compares C- and X-band results, considering data from the high-resolution TerraSAR-X sensor. The paper begins with a description of the main characteristics of PSI. It then discusses the most important PSI products and their performances, analyzing their spatial sampling, the so-called residual topographic error and PSI geocoding, the average displacement rates, and the deformation time series. As C-band products are concerned, the paper reports some relevant PSI validation results, which come from the ESA-funded Terrafirma Validation Project. Regarding the X-band, it describes the results obtained over the City of Barcelona by processing 13 TerraSAR-X images. The last part discusses the main limits of PSI. [Termes IGN] réfraction de l'eauRésumé : (Auteur) Underwater photogrammetry provides an efficient nondestructive means for measurement in environments with limited accessibility. With the growing use of consumer cameras, its application is becoming easier, thus benefiting a wide variety of disciplines. However, utilizing cameras for underwater photogrammetry poses some nontrivial modeling problems due to refraction effect and the extension of the imaging system into a unit of both the camera and the protecting housing device. This paper studies the effect that the underwater environment has on the photogrammetric process, and proposes a model for describing the geometric distortions and for estimating the additional parameters involved. The proposed model accounts not only for the multimedia effect, but also for inaccuracies related to the setting of the camera and housing device. The paper shows that only a small number of additional parameters is needed to model both elements and to preserve the collinearity relation. The results show that no unique setup is needed for estimating the additional parameters and that the estimation is insensitive to noise or first approximations. Experiments show that high levels of accuracy can be achieved. [Termes IGN] résiduRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes a new method for integrated range camera system self-calibration in which both traditional camera calibration parameters and rangefinder systematic error parameters are estimated simultaneously in a free-network bundle adjustment of observations to signalised targets. Its mathematical basis is collinearity and range observation equations augmented with correction models for systematic error sources identified in the data. The self-calibration results from datasets captured with two different range cameras, a SwissRanger SR3000 and a SwissRanger SR4000, are presented and analysed in detail. The method’s effectiveness is demonstrated in terms of systematic error removal and independent accuracy assessment. Up to a 54% reduction in the residual RMS was achieved by inclusion of the proposed error models in the self-calibration adjustment. An improvement of at least 74% in the RMS of object point co-ordinate differences, over that achieved without calibration or provided by the manufacturer’s software (in the case of the SR3000), was realised in an independent accuracy assessment. In addition, the effects of several influencing variables, including the range stochastic error model, the network geometry and the range measurements themselves, on key correlation mechanisms are analysed in detail.
