[Termes IGN] spatiotriangulationRésumé : (auteur) High location accuracy is a major requirement for satellite image users. Target performance is usually achieved thanks to either specific on-board satellite equipment or an auxiliary registration reference dataset. Both methods may be expensive and with certain limitations in terms of performance. The Institut national de l’information géographique et forestière (IGN) and Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) have worked together for almost 20 years, to build reference data for improving image location using multi-satellite observations. The first geometric foundation created has mainly used SPOT 5 High Resolution Stereoscopic (HRS) imagery, ancillary Ground Control Points (GCP) and Very High Resolution (VHR) imagery, providing a homogenous location accuracy of 10m CE90 almost all over the world in 2010. Space Reference Points (SRP) is a new worldwide 3D GCP database, built from a plethoric SPOT 6/7 multi-view archive, largely automatically processed, with cloud-based technologies. SRP aims at providing a systematic and reliable solution for image location (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, VHR satellite imagery, High Altitudes Pseudo-Satellite…) and similar topics thanks to a high-density point distribution with a 3m CE90 accuracy. This paper describes the principle of SRP generation and presents the first validation results. A SPOT 6/7 smart image selection is performed to keep only relevant images for SRP purpose. The location of these SPOT 6/7 images is refined thanks to a spatiotriangulation on the worldwide geometric foundation, itself improved where needed. Points making up the future SRP database are afterward extracted thanks to classical feature detection algorithms and with respect to the expected density. Different filtering methods are applied to keep the best candidates. The last step of the processing chain is the formatting of the data to the delivery format, including metadata. An example of validation of SRP concept and specification on two tests sites (Spain and China) is then given. As a conclusion, the on-going production is shortly presented. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) The perspective distortion of oblique images has a substantial impact on dense matching, i.e., it reduces the matching precision. In this article, a strategy of dense matching in which the object plane direction is considered is proposed. According to many regular planes in urban areas, epipolar rectification with minimum distortions relative to the selected reference planes can be generated. The matching results of epipolar images relative to various reference planes are weighted and fused into a single depth map, which is a better matching result. The experimental results demonstrate that the perspective distortion has a substantial influence on the dense matching performance. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the flatness for horizontal objects is increased by approximately 30%, and the RMSE of the flatness for façades is increased by approximately 40%. Hence, the proposed matching strategy, in which the object plane is considered, can effectively improve the matching results. [Termes IGN] récepteur GNSSRésumé : (auteur) Geospatial information acquired with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) provides valuable decision-making support in many different domains, and technological advances coincide with a demand for ever more sophisticated data products. One consequence is a research and development focus on more accurately referenced images and derivatives, which has long been a weakness especially of low to medium cost UAV systems equipped with relatively inexpensive inertial measurement unit (IMU) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. This research evaluates the positional accuracy of the real-time kinematics (RTK) GNSS on the DJI Matrice 600 Pro, one of the first available and widely used UAVs with potentially surveying-grade performance. Although a very high positional accuracy of the drone itself of 2 to 3 cm is claimed by DJI, the actual accuracy of the drone RTK for positioning the images and for using it for mapping purposes without additional ground control is not known. To begin with, the actual GNSS RTK position of reference center (the physical point on the antenna) on the drone is not indicated, and uncertainty regarding this also exists among the professional user community. In this study the reference center was determined through a set of experiments using the dual frequency static Leica GNSS with RTK capability. The RTK positioning data from the drone were then used for direct georeferencing, and its results were evaluated. Test flights were carried out over a 70 x 70 m area with an altitude of 40 m above the ground, with a ground sampling distance of 1.3 cm. Evaluated against ground control points, the planimetric accuracy of direct georeferencing for the photogrammetric product ranged between 30 and 60 cm. Analysis of direct georeferencing results showed a time delay of up to 0.28 seconds between the drone GNSS RTK and camera image acquisition affecting direct georeferencing results. It is commonly deployed on mobile mapping systems to collect imagery for 3D reality capture. This paper describes an approach for the geometric modelling and self‐calibration of this system. The collinearity equations of the pinhole camera model are augmented with five radial lens distortion terms to correct the severe barrel distortion. Weighted relative orientation stability constraints are added to the self‐calibrating bundle adjustment solution to enforce the angular and positional stability between the Ladybug5’s six cameras. Centimetre‐level 3D reconstruction accuracy can be achieved, with image‐space precision and object‐space accuracy improved by 92% and 93% , respectively, relative to a two‐term lens distortion model. Sub‐pixel interior orientation stability and millimetre‐level relative orientation stability were also demonstrated over a 10‐month period. [Termes IGN] translationMots-clés libres : fissure dans du béton Résumé : (Auteur) This publication presents a procedure for the determination of all three components of crack opening vectors from stereoscopic image sequences of a specimen under load in civil engineering material testing. The method is based on analyzing stereoscopic image sequences of a concrete specimen with a surface texture, which is suitable for applying image matching techniques. Spatio-temporal correspondences are established by applying sub-pixel accuracy area based image matching techniques to a grid of surface points. Data acquisition starts at zero load. The load is stepwise or continuously increased during the experiment. The surface points are matched between the stereo images and tracked through each camera image sequence. As an intermediate result, we obtain a set of 3D object surface points for each epoch by spatial intersection. These 3D object points are triangulated into a mesh. Then, the mesh triangles are tested for deformations by transforming the triangles into 2D space and computing the norm of the 2D relative translation vector. Connected components of deformed triangles are determined and crack normals are computed. In the next step, the 3D relative translation vector can be derived for each deformed triangle. Defining local crack opening coordinate systems for the deformed triangles, the three components of the crack opening vectors can be computed. The method has been tested and validated in practical experiments. The technique is capable of quantitatively analyzing cracks with a width of less than one pixel in image space.
