[Termes IGN] ZiYuan-3Résumé : (Auteur) Integration of satellite laser altimetry data and stereo images without ground control points (GCPs) is an attractive method for global mapping. In this paper, we propose a new strategy of integrating Ziyuan3-02 (ZY3-02) satellite stereo images and laser altimetry data using a rigorous sensor model (RSM) with laser ranging constraint under the synchronized and rational function model (RFM) with laser elevation constraint under the non-synchronized capture for high-accuracy mapping without GCPs. Four experimental regions in China are selected to validate the method. The results show that the ZY3-02 satellite laser altimetry data can be used to improve the elevation accuracy of stereo images to better than 3.0 m without GCPs. All of the conclusions are valuable for the development of China's next generation of surveying and mapping satellites. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) Accurate indoor 3D models have become a key prerequisite for various applications. Through state-of-the-art image processing techniques, 3D models can be generated from high quality images captured by off-the-shelf digital cameras. To acquire redundant data and produce real scale models, a multi-camera system can be used. However, dedicated approaches for image-based 3D reconstruction using mapping platforms equipped with multiple cameras have not been fully addressed. Assuming the availability of prior information regarding the platform trajectory, this paper presents a new approach for reliable estimation of system motion parameters between different data acquisition epochs of a multi-camera system. This approach, which assumes planar motion of the utilized platform, provides a three-point closed-form solution. The derived solutions are then incorporated within a modified RANSAC framework for outlier detection/removal. It is worth noting that, different from the existing General Camera Model (GCM)-based solutions, the proposed approach is based on a modified co-planarity model, which is essentially a direct extension of the classic stereo-based relative orientation. Moreover, since the proposed approach only provides a maximum number of four possible solutions for system motion parameters over different epochs, it has better computational efficiency when compared to other existing algorithms. Experimental results from real datasets acquired with different configurations have demonstrated the reliability of the proposed approach in motion parameter estimation for indoor multi-camera mapping systems. [Termes IGN] SuisseRésumé : (Editeur) Extraction of leaf area index (LAI) is an important prerequisite in numerous studies related to plant ecology, physiology and breeding. LAI is indicative for the performance of a plant canopy and of its potential for growth and yield. In this study, a novel method to estimate LAI based on RGB images taken by an unmanned aerial system (UAS) is introduced. Soybean was taken as the model crop of investigation. The method integrates viewing geometry information in an approach related to gap fraction theory. A 3-D simulation of virtual canopies helped developing and verifying the underlying model. In addition, the method includes techniques to extract plot based data from individual oblique images using image projection, as well as image segmentation applying an active learning approach. Data from a soybean field experiment were used to validate the method. The thereby measured LAI prediction accuracy was comparable with the one of a gap fraction-based handheld device ( of , RMSE of m 2m−2) and correlated well with destructive LAI measurements ( of , RMSE of m2 m−2). These results indicate that, if respecting the range (LAI ) the method was tested for, extracting LAI from UAS derived RGB images using viewing geometry information represents a valid alternative to destructive and optical handheld device LAI measurements in soybean. Thereby, we open the door for automated, high-throughput assessment of LAI in plant and crop science. Advancements have included the integration of multi‐camera images and georeferencing data collected with a mobile mapping system (MMS). This paper proposes the use of a portable panoramic image mapping system (PPIMS), which is a specially designed platform equipped with eight cameras to capture panoramic images and a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver (or a prism reflector) for positioning. A rigorous calibration procedure is developed for PPIMS, as well as a bundle adjustment method to solve for the platform exterior orientation parameters (EOPs) which then allows the image EOPs to be calculated. Experimental results demonstrate that PPIMS mapping accuracy can be better than 13 mm, making it comparable with traditional methods but much more efficient in the measuring process. [Termes IGN] panorama sphériqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a technique for the calibration of a 360° dual imaging system (Ricoh Theta S) composed of two cameras with fisheye lenses specially mounted in a common structure. The experiments are based on calibration with a bundle adjustment using the equidistant fisheye lens model and relative orientation stability constraints, such as distance, base elements and rotation matrix between individual cameras’ coordinate systems. As a result, an equidistant mathematical model using the Conrady–Brown lens distortion model was shown to be suitable for estimating the interior and relative orientation parameters of the Ricoh Theta S. The main contribution presented in this work is a simultaneous bundle adjustment approach with stability constraints on base elements and rotation matrix angles, which achieved accuracies comparable with conventional photogrammetric calibration with perspective cameras.
