In order to verify the performance of real-time kinematic PPP for aerial triangulation, three tests with varying aerial and ground conditions are assessed. Numerical results show that real-time kinematic PPP using IGS real-time products of 5-cm orbit accuracy and 0.1- to 0.3-ns clock precision can provide comparable accuracy for aerial photogrammetric mapping at the scale of 1:1000 as does post-mission kinematic PPP using IGS final products. Millimeter-to-centimeter-level differences and centimeter-to-2-decimeter differences are identified for horizontal and vertical coordinates of ground check points, respectively, in the three tests. The comparison between real-time IGS and CNES products for GPS positioning and aerial triangulation unveils that real-time products with a better clock precision can result in better performance of GPS real-time kinematic PPP as applied to aerial triangulation. [Termes IGN] système de coordonnéesRésumé : (auteur) Absolute orientation based on points is a common method of precise georeferencing in photogrammetry. In images of urban areas, straight-line features such as buildings are prominent. A new absolute orientation approach dependent on line coordinates is proposed in this paper. An arbitrary spatial line can be described by its orientation vector and moment vector. Using the helical scaling displacement operator, the transformation of straight lines in model space and their corresponding control straight lines in object space can be achieved. Experimental results show that with eight control straight lines, the proposed approach is comparable to the precision of absolute orientation using four control points. Furthermore, the endpoints of corresponding line segments in the two spaces are not required to be conjugate points. [Termes IGN] validation des donnéesRésumé : (auteur) The prediction sum of squares statistic uses the principle of leave-one-out cross-validation in linear least squares regression. It is computationally attractive, as it can be computed non-iteratively. However, it has limitations: it does not handle coupled measurements, which should be held out simultaneously, and is specific to the principle of leave-one-out, which is known to overfit when used for selecting a model’s complexity. We propose multiple-exclusion PRESS (MEXPRESS), which generalizes PRESS to coupled measurements and other types of cross-validation, while retaining computational efficiency with the non-iterative MEXPRESS formula. Using MEXPRESS, various strategies to resolve overfitting can be efficiently implemented. The core principle is to exclude training data too ‘close’ or too ‘similar’ to the validation data. We show that this allows one to select the number of control points automatically in three cases: (i) the estimation of linear fractional warps for dense image registration from point correspondences, (ii) surface reconstruction from a dense depth-map obtained by a depth sensor and (iii) surface reconstruction from a sparse point cloud obtained by shape-from-template. [Termes IGN] transformation affineRésumé : (auteur) YaoGan-18 (YG-18) is a Chinese high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite, which was launched on 29th October 2013. So far, however, there have been no published reports evaluating the geometric accuracy of its imagery; this is rectified in this paper. A refined rational function model (RFM) with an affine transformation is utilised for the spaceborne SAR processing. By setting corner reflectors as ground control points (GCPs) and independent check points, the orthorectification accuracy of YG-18 satellite images was better than 2·5 m. Its stereo-SAR measurement accuracy was subsequently evaluated using a high-precision digital surface model (DSM), achieving an elevation accuracy of 11·36 m. The feasibility of the orthorectification method based on GCPs selected from corresponding image points of YG-18 SAR images and ZiYuan-3 (ZY-3) optical images was also verified, offering single-image accuracy better than 4·5 m.
