[Termes IGN] pouvoir de résolution géométriqueRésumé : (auteur) Most pansharpening methods refer to the fusion of the original low-resolution multispectral (MS) and high-resolution panchromatic (PAN) images acquired simultaneously over the same area. Due to its good robustness, multiresolution analysis (MRA) has become one of the important categories of pansharpening methods. However, when only MS and PAN images acquired at different times can be provided, the fusion results from current MRA methods are often not ideal due to the failure to effectively analyze multitemporal misalignments between MS and PAN images from different times. To solve this issue, MRA pansharpening based on variation factor for MS and PAN images from different times is proposed. The MRA pansharpening based on dual-scale regression model is first established, and the variation factor is then introduced to effectively analyze the multitemporal misalignments by using the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM), yielding the final fusion results. Experiments with synthetic and real datasets show that the proposed method exhibits significant performance improvement compared to the traditional pansharpening methods, as well as the state-of-the-art MRA methods. Visual comparisons demonstrate that the variation factor introduces encouraging improvements in the compensation of multitemporal misalignments in ground objects and advances pansharpening applications for MS and PAN images acquired at different times. [Termes IGN] image Sentinel-MSIRésumé : (Auteur) Earth observations from the Sentinel-2 mission have been extensively accepted in a variety of land services. The thirteen spectral bands of Sentinel-2, however, are collected at three spatial resolutions of 10/20/60 m, and such a difference brings difficulties to analyze multispectral imagery at a uniform resolution. To address this problem, we developed a hierarchical fusion network (HFN) to sharpen 20/60-m bands and generate Sentinel-2 all-band 10-m data. The deep learning architecture is used to learn the complex mapping between multi-resolution input and output data. Given the deficiency of previous studies in which the spatial information is inferred only from the fine-resolution bands, the proposed hierarchical fusion framework simultaneously leverages the self-similarity information from coarse-resolution bands and the spatial structure information from fine-resolution bands, to enhance the sharpening performance. Technically, the coarse-resolution bands are super-resolved by exploiting the information from themselves and then sharpened by fusing with the fine-resolution bands. Both 20-m and 60-m bands can be sharpened via the developed approach. Experimental results regarding visual comparison and quantitative assessment demonstrate that HFN outperforms the other benchmarking models, including pan-sharpening-based, model-based, geostatistical-based, and other deep-learning-based approaches, showing remarkable performance in reproducing explicit spatial details and maintaining original spectral features. Moreover, the developed model works more effectively than the other models over the heterogeneous landscape, which is usually considered a challenging application scenario. To sum up, the fusion model can sharpen Sentinel-2 20/60-m bands, and the created all-band 10-m data allows image analysis and geoscience applications to be authentically carried out at the 10-m resolution. [Termes IGN] précision de la classificationRésumé : (auteur) Pan Sharpening is normally applied to sharpen a multispectral image with low resolution by using a panchromatic image with a higher resolution, to generate a high resolution multispectral image. The present study aims at assessing the power of Pan Sharpening on improvement of the accuracy of image classification and land cover mapping in Landsat 8 OLI imagery. In this respect, different Pan Sharpening algorithms including Brovey, Gram-Schmidt, NNDiffuse, and Principal Components were applied to merge the Landsat OLI panchromatic band (15 m) with the Landsat OLI multispectral: visible and infrared bands (30 m), to generate a new multispectral image with a higher spatial resolution (15 m). Subsequently, the support vector machine approach was utilized to classify the original Landsat and resulting Pan Sharpened images to generate land cover maps of the study area. The outcomes were then compared through the generation of confusion matrix and calculation of kappa coefficient and overall accuracy. The results indicated superiority of NNDiffuse algorithm in Pan Sharpening and improvement of classification accuracy in Landsat OLI imagery, with an overall accuracy and kappa coefficient of about 98.66% and 0.98, respectively. Furthermore, the result showed that the Gram-Schmidt and Principal Components algorithms also slightly improved the accuracy of image classification compared to original Landsat image. The study concluded that image Pan Sharpening is useful to improve the accuracy of image classification in Landsat OLI imagery, depending on the Pan Sharpening algorithm used for this purpose. [Termes IGN] théorème de BayesRésumé : (auteur) Synthesizing a high-resolution (HR) hyperspectral image (HSI) by merging a low-resolution (LR) HSI with a corresponding HR multispectral image (MSI) has become a promising HSI super-resolution scheme. Most existing HSI-MSI fusion methods are effective to some extent, while several challenges remain. First, the spectral response of a given material exhibits considerable variability due to different acquisition times and conditions, however, variations in spectral signatures are often neglected. Second, a majority of off-the-shelf methods require predefined degradation operators, which can be unavailable in practice. To tackle the above issues, we introduce a novel fusion approach with a Bayesian framework. Specifically, we regard the up-sampled LR-HSI as the low-frequency component of the underlying HR-HSI. We characterize the texture features of high- and low-frequency components, respectively, which can enlarge modeling capacity and bypass the absence of degradation operators. Furthermore, we depict the relative smoothness of reflectance spectra with the Gaussian process. Extensive experiments on synthesized and real datasets illustrate the superiority of the proposed strategy in terms of fusion performance and robustness to spectral variability. [Termes IGN] tourbièreRésumé : (auteur) Peatlands as natural carbon sinks have a major impact on the climate balance and should therefore be monitored and protected. The hydrology of the peatland serves as an indicator of the carbon storage capacity. Hence, we investigate the question how suitable different remote sensing data are for monitoring the size of open water surface and the water table depth (WTD) of a peatland ecosystem. Furthermore, we examine the potential of combining remote sensing data for this purpose. We use C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data from Sentinel-1 and multi-spectral data from Sentinel-2. The radar backscatter σ0, the normalized difference water index (NDWI) and the modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI) are calculated and used for consideration of the WTD and the lake size. For the measurement of the lake size, we implement and investigate the methods: random forest, adaptive thresholding and an analysis according to the Dempster–Shafer theory. Correlations between WTD and the remote sensing data σ0 as well as NDWI are investigated. When looking at the individual data sets the results of our case study show that the VH polarized σ0 data produces the clearest delineation of the peatland lake. However the adaptive thresholding of the weighted fusion image of σ0-VH, σ0-VV and MNDWI, and the random forest algorithm with all three data sets as input proves to be the most suitable for determining the lake area. The correlation coefficients between σ0/NDWI and WTD vary greatly and lie in ranges of low to moderate correlation.
