[Termes IGN] santé des forêtsRésumé : (auteur) This study presents a method that uses high-resolution remote sensing images collected by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and combines MobileNet and Faster R-CNN for detecting diseased pine trees. MobileNet is used to remove backgrounds to reduce the interference of background information. Faster R-CNN is adopted to distinguish between diseased and healthy pine trees. The number of training samples is expanded due to the insufficient number of available UAV images. Experimental results show that the proposed method is better than traditional machine learning approaches, such as support vector machine and AdaBoost, and methods of DCNN, such as Alexnet, Inception and Faster R-CNN. Through sample expansion and background removal, the proposed method achieves effective detection of diseased pine trees in UAV images by using deep learning technology. [Vedettes matières IGN] AltimétrieRésumé : (auteur) Antalya 2 tide gauge (TG) station is located on the coast of Turkey within the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Relative sea level trends 6.0 ± 1.5 and 6.44 ± 0.45 mm/year over 1985–2009 at Antalya 2 TG are different from the trend (1.6 ± 1.5 mm/year over 1935–1977) at Antalya TG within 10 km. In order to investigate this trend discrepancy, the monthly mean series at Antalya 2 TG is re-analyzed for offsets, outliers and trend estimation. The Zivot-Andrews method and the Qp outlier test result in one offset at 1994.0417 year with magnitude of 71.24 ± 13.48 mm and nine outliers. The series, corrected for the offset and outliers, de-seasonalized and filled for missed points, is identified as trend-stationary process and analyzed for trend estimation by various models. The optimal model providing the lowest Akaike Information Criteria is polynomial linear trend with multiplicative seasonal Autoregressive Moving Average (ARMA(2,0)x(1,0)12). The estimated relative sea level trend by the optimal model is 1.77 ± 0.65 mm/year. The large trend discrepancy at Antalya 2 TG is accounted for by one offset primarily (∼71%) and nine outliers (∼3%). [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Land-use classification plays an important role in urban planning and resource allocation and had contributed to a wide range of urban studies and investigations. With the development of crowdsourcing technology and map services, points of interest (POIs) have been widely used for recognizing urban land-use types. However, current research methods for land-use classifications have been limited to extracting the spatial relationship of POIs in research units. To close this gap, this study uses a graph-based data structure to describe the POIs in research units, with graph convolutional networks (GCNs) being introduced to extract the spatial context and urban land-use classification. First, urban scenes are built by considering the spatial context of POIs. Second, a graph structure is used to express the scenes, where POIs are treated as graph nodes. The spatial distribution relationship of POIs is considered to be the graph's edges. Third, a GCN model is designed to extract the spatial context of the scene by aggregating the information of adjacent nodes within the graph and urban land-use classification. Thus, the land-use classification can be treated as a classification on a graphic level through deep learning. Moreover, the POI spatial context can be effectively extracted during classification. Experimental results and comparative experiments confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method. [Termes IGN] zone ruraleRésumé : (auteur) The impact of heat waves (HWs) on surface urban heat islands (SUHIs) has been widely studied, but the spatial pattern of SUHI responsiveness to HWs across various climates remains unclear, and the influence of HW intensity on SUHI responsiveness has not been systematically quantified. Using MODIS land surface temperature data, here we investigated the responsiveness of SUHI to HWs (quantified as ∆I) as well as its variations with HW intensity in 354 cities in seven climate zones across China. We find that during HW periods, the SUHI and surface urban cool island are augmented in the humid and arid regions of China, respectively. The inter-city heterogeneity in rural vegetation coverage accounts for such a spatial pattern. In eastern China, the ∆I peaks in the north subtropical climate (0.72 ± 0.54 K for daytime and 0.29 ± 0.23 K for the nighttime) probably for its specific rural farming method. With the intensification of HWs, the augmentation effect can be further enhanced for the north subtropical, warm temperate, and arid temperate climates during the day and for almost all the climates at night. These findings can help advance the understanding of the responsiveness of SUHI to extreme climatic events. Moving flocks, defined as groups of people traveling along over a pre-defined time duration, can reveal collective moving patterns at aggregated spatio-temporal scales, thereby facilitating the discovery of urban mobility structure and travel demand patterns. In this study, we extend classical trajectory-oriented flock mining algorithms to discover moving flocks of transit passengers, accounting for the constraints of multi-modal transit networks. We develop a map-centered visual analytics approach by integrating the flock mining algorithm with interactive visualization designs of discovered flocks. Novel interactive visualizations are designed and implemented to support the exploration and analyses of discovered moving flocks at different spatial and temporal scales. The visual analytics approach is evaluated using a real-world smart card dataset collected in Shenzhen City, China, validating its applicability in capturing and mapping dynamic mobility patterns over a large metropolitan area.
