[Termes IGN] web des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) This article introduces a design process, called W-RayS, to describe Deep Web geographic data and to publish the descriptions both on the Web of Data and on the Surface Web. The article also outlines a toolkit that supports the process and discusses an experiment in which the toolkit was used to publish data stored in a large map server. Briefly, to describe geographic data in vector format, the designer should first specify views over the underlying geographic database that capture the basic characteristics of the geographic objects and their topological relationships represented in the vector data. The same idea is applied to raster data, but using a gazetteer or any other geographic database that covers the same area as the raster data. Then, the designer should map the view definitions to an RDF schema, following the Linked Data principles. The descriptions of the geographic data are therefore formalized as sets of RDF triples synthesized from the conventional data. To publish geographic data descriptions on the Web of Data, the designer may decide to materialize the RDF triples and store them in a repository or create a SPARQL endpoint to access the triples on demand. To publish geographic data descriptions on the Surface Web, W-RayS offers the designer tools to transform the RDF triples to natural language sentences, organized as static Web pages with embedded RDFa. The inclusion of RDFa preserves the structure of the data and allows more specific queries, processed by engines that analyze Web pages with RDFa. [Termes IGN] SOLAPRésumé : (Auteur) Although many real world phenomena are vague and characterized by having uncertain location or vague shape, existing spatial data warehouse models do not support spatial vagueness and then cannot properly represent these phenomena. In this paper, we propose the VSCube conceptual model to represent and manipulate shape vagueness in spatial data warehouses, allowing the analysis of business scores related to vague spatial data, and therefore improving the decision-making process. Our VSCube conceptual model is based on the cube metaphor and supports geometric shapes and the corresponding membership values, thus providing more expressiveness to represent vague spatial data. We also define vague spatial aggregation functions (e.g. vague spatial union) and vague spatial predicates to enable vague SOLAP queries (e.g. intersection range queries). Finally, we introduce the concept of vague SOLAP and its operations (e.g. drill-down and roll-up). We demonstrate the applicability of our model by describing an application concerning pest control in agriculture and by discussing the reuse of existing models in the VSCube conceptual model. [Termes IGN] objet mobileRésumé : (Auteur) Several works have been proposed in the last few years for raw trajectory data analysis, and some attempts have been made to define trajectories from a more semantic point of view. Semantic trajectory data analysis has received significant attention recently, but the formal definition of semantic trajectory, the set of aspects that should be considered to semantically enrich trajectories and a conceptual data model integrating these aspects from a broad sense is still missing. This article presents a semantic trajectory conceptual data model named CONSTAnT, which defines the most important aspects of semantic trajectories. We believe that this model will be the foundation for the design of semantic trajectory databases, where several aspects that make a trajectory “semantic” are taken into account. The proposed model includes the concepts of semantic subtrajectory, semantic points, geographical places, events, goals, environment and behavior, to create a general concept of semantic trajectory. The proposed model is the result of several years of work by the authors in an effort to add more semantics to raw trajectory data for real applications. Two application examples and different queries show the flexibility of the model for different domains. Spatial relations are key to understanding geographic space and their modelling is a critical issue. This chapter reports on existing classifications and modelling frameworks for spatial relations. A generic model is proposed for building an ontology of spatial relations for automatic processes such as generalisation or on-demand mapping, with a focus on so-called multiple representation relations. Propositions to use such ontology in an automated environment are reported. The three use cases of the chapter describe recent research that uses relations modelling. The first use case is the extension of CityGML with relations for 3D city models. The second use case presents the use of spatial relations for automatic spatial analysis, and particularly the grouping of natural features such as lakes or islands. Finally, the third use case is a data migration model guided by relations that govern the positioning of thematic data upon changing reference data.
