L'objet de ce mémoire est de développer une méthode fonctionnelle de mise à jour permettant le suivi de l'historique de la forêt. Sont abordés dans un premier temps, les principes de gestion utilisés pour la foresterie au Québec afin de comprendre l'environnement de l'usager. Puis, sont décrits le modèle conceptuel des données et les spécificités du formalisme Modul-R 2.01 développé au CRG. Ensuite, sont expliqués les choix à l'origine de la démarche de mise à jour adoptée. Enfin, l'auteur se penche sur le processus choisi pour gérer l'historique de la forêt. Le contexte est analysé : complexité de la gestion de l'espace pastoral et faiblesses des données existantes. Une représentation graphique de l'espace est proposée. Pour le SIG, un modèle conceptuel de données est élaboré avec la méthode MERISE. Les données structurées sont gérées sous Access pour les données attributaires et avec GéoConcept pour les données géographiques. Des unités pastorales sont définies et l'ensemble de la méthode est appliqué à deux communes (St-Vallier-de-Thiey et Fontan) pour en vérifier l'intérêt.
