[Termes IGN] théorie des graphesRésumé : (auteur) This paper addresses the creation and maintenance of partitions of city surfaces for mapping and transportation applications. It proposes a hierarchical spatial surface partitioning, encoding the spatial partition with a 2D arrangement and structuring a generic hierarchy of semantic objects with a directed acyclic graph (DAG), in which the leaves point to the partition elements (polygonal regions, line strings, points). Semantic objects such as buildings, sidewalks and roads are described by grouping other objects and partition elements with their semantic relationships. In the proposed generic data model, geometry and spatial relationships of the semantic objects are respectively described by the geometry and topology of the planar partition. The proposed geometric data structure for creating and maintaining this partition is a 2D arrangement. In addition, the hierarchical object model encodes the thematic and semantic relationships between the objects. Besides the data model, methods and algorithms are discussed for leveraging existing vector datasets to create and maintain such partitions. These partitions are then fit to further processing and analysis using computational geometry and graph theory algorithms. For this purpose, three application-wise generic algorithms were integrated into our system called Streetmaker: two skeleton operators for centerline generation (straight skeleton and medial axis) and connectivity graphs for itinerary calculations. Moreover, specific algorithms can be integrated into Streetmaker for specific applications. We demonstrated an example usage of this framework for generating static obstacle avoiding pedestrian network graphs. The representation of the network graph and the process used to generate it, can be considered as the second contribution of our work besides the proposed data model. [Termes IGN] transport intermodalRésumé : (Auteur) Moving objects databases should be able to manage trips that pass through several real world environments, e.g., road network, indoor. However, the current data models only deal with the movement in one situation and cannot represent comprehensive trips for humans who can move inside a building, walk on the pavement, drive on the road, take the public vehicles (bus or train), etc. As a result, existing queries are solely limited to one environment. In this paper, we design a data model that is able to represent moving objects in multiple environments in order to support novel queries on trips in different surroundings and various transportation modes (e.g., Car, Walk, Bus). A generic and precise location representation is proposed that can apply in all environments. The idea is to let the space for moving objects be covered by a set of so-called infrastructures each of which corresponds to an environment and defines the available places for moving objects. Then, the location is represented by referencing to the infrastructure. We formulate the concept of space and infrastructure and propose the methodology to represent moving objects in different environments with the integration of precise transportation modes. Due to different infrastructure characteristics, a set of novel data types is defined to represent infrastructure components. To efficiently support new queries, we design a group of operators to access the data. We present how such a data model is implemented in a database system and report the experimental results. The new model is designed with attention to the data models of previous work for free space and road networks to have a consistent type system and framework of operators. In this way, a powerful set of generic query operations is available for querying, together with those dealing with infrastructures and transportation modes. We demonstrate these capabilities by formulating a set of sophisticated queries across all infrastructures. [Termes IGN] intersection spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) Although modern imagery usually has latitude and longitude or similar coordinates to provide true world location, much potentially useful imagery lacks this information. This includes historical imagery, as well as modern imagery that may have lost its locational information through inappropriate processing. Its provision through the process of georeferencing is still primarily a manual procedure. This paper proposes an efficient, fully- automated solution for massively asymmetric image-to-vector georeferencing whereby an image of a relatively small geographic area is automatically located relative to a substantially larger vector map base. For control points, road intersections are automatically extracted from high resolution aerial or satellite imagery using the new concepts of reference circles and central pixels. For automated control point pair identification between image and vector map, an invariant point pattern matching approach is proposed based on shape invariance for similarity transforms and invariant area ratios for affine transforms. The matching algorithm necessitates only a small subset of image points and requires no additional information beyond pixel and map coordinates. Further, it tolerates inaccurate, missing and spurious points, and provides high performance with linear scalability. A final step performs transformation verification, globalization and optimization based upon an Iterative Closest Point Greedy algorithm. Experimentation shows that images covering a few city blocks with as few as 6 to 17 extracted road intersection points can be efficiently and correctly located using the road network of Dallas County, Texas, with over 80,000 intersections.
