[Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (Auteur) In this study, the quality control of tide gauge observations is investigated by two methods of least square (LS-HE) and total least square harmonic estimation (TLS-HE). Particularly, it is shown how to deal with unexpected anomalies, including outliers, offset and gap in the time series of sea level height. To do so, at first the time series is constructed and then a method based on variance threshold is used to eliminate the possible outliers in the observations. Subsequently, a noise assessment algorithm is implemented and the signal is processed to find the possible times of offsets and to eliminate their corresponding observations from the time series. Finally, the signal is checked to find the periods of gap within the time series and then the gap area is predicted with correct observations. Gap filling analysis is performed in two contexts. In the first, only the significant frequencies of tide are considered in the modelling procedure, while in the second, all possible frequencies according to the period of observations are included. Our results show that for modelling and gap filling, the TLS-HE method has a better performance in a comparison with LS-HE method. Although, for offset and outlier detections, the LS-HE is recommended. It also indicates that the TLS-HE method provides a regular solution for gap filling analysis while LS-HE method needs a regularization scheme for which LSQR regularization is used. However, there is confusion in both the definition of the term “datacube” and the choices for how it is implemented. This and the conventional approach to managing spatial data (i.e., in map-projected data sets) have led to a restricted set of datacube implementations that are each tightly coupled to the spatial constraints of the data and how they are stored on disc – resulting in barriers to interoperability, particularly on global scales. This article discusses options and how it is possible to implement a datacube based on discrete global grid systems, while using the same topologies as conventional datacubes. These provide a flexible spatial data infrastructure that leverages the same topological advantages as conventional geospatial datacubes, while reducing barriers to data interoperability of both raster and vector data and providing additional functionality. Also, they potentially provide a very efficient approach to connecting to big data sources in order to extract datasets on demand prior to proceeding to multi-level intelligent big data processing, mining, machine learning, and visualizations. [Termes IGN] Soil Adjusted Vegetation IndexRésumé : (auteur) The main objective of the presented work is to assess applicability of vegetation indices derived from non-commercial and commercial satellites for monitoring development stages of winter wheat. Two types of data were used in the study: Sentinel-2 and PlanetScope images. Various vegetation indices were derived from these data and correlated with ground measured LAI values. The results of the study revealed that there is a good relationship between satellite based indices – Normalized Difference Vegetation Index – NDVI, Enhanced Vegetation Index – EVI, Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index – SAVI and ground based LAI, but strength of this relation depends on the phase of crop development. Sentinel-2 and PlanetScope data are suitable for estimating LAI with high accuracy and their precision for LAI determination is very similar. Depending on availability, they can be used interchangeably. The highest correlation between ground measured LAI and vegetation indices for Sentinel-2 appeared SAVI – r = 0.862 (phase: early tillering) and for PlanetScope NDVI – r = 0.667 (phase: ripening). Compatibility of average LAI values derived from PlanetScope and Sentinel-2 images are 33.21% and 10.63%. Such place names may not be recorded in existing gazetteers, due to their vernacular nature, relative insignificance to a gazetteer covering a large area (e.g. the entire world), recent establishment (e.g. the name of a newly-opened shopping center) or other reasons. While not always recorded, local place names play important roles in many applications, from supporting public participation in urban planning to locating victims in disaster response. In this paper, we propose a computational framework for harvesting local place names from geotagged housing advertisements. We make use of those advertisements posted on local-oriented websites, such as Craigslist, where local place names are often mentioned. The proposed framework consists of two stages: natural language processing (NLP) and geospatial clustering. The NLP stage examines the textual content of housing advertisements and extracts place name candidates. The geospatial stage focuses on the coordinates associated with the extracted place name candidates and performs multiscale geospatial clustering to filter out the non-place names. We evaluate our framework by comparing its performance with those of six baselines. We also compare our result with four existing gazetteers to demonstrate the not-yet-recorded local place names discovered by our framework.
