[Termes IGN] montagneRésumé : (auteur) Ce projet examine la faisabilité de l’utilisation d’images vidéo acquises au moyen d’un véhicule aérien sans pilote (UAV) pour obtenir des nuages de points tridimensionnels (3D) en utilisant un logiciel de structure à partir du mouvement (SfM). Des missions ont été effectuées avec un Aeryon Scout, un micro UAV léger à décollage et atterrissage vertical propulsé par quatre rotors et équipé d’une caméra vidéo miniature. La mission initiale a permis de capter des images de scènes urbaines utilisées pour évaluer la performance du système alors que la mission principale a mis l’accent sur des parois rocheuses où des images 3D ont été utilisées pour mesurer avec succès l’orientation des fractures. Les nuages de points générés à partir de cette combinaison de technologies étaient clairsemés, mais à l’avenir des améliorations de la résolution des images vidéo originales se succéderaient dans le traitement et amélioreraient les résultats globaux. Un tel système pourrait avoir une multitude d’applications dans l’industrie minière et contribuer à des considérations en matière de coût et de sécurité. Both the principle and the algorithms for recognition are given in detail. The architecture of Doppler Delay Mapping Receiver (DDMR), signal-processing chain, and correlation power spectra discriminant of the reflected signals from the ship object are discussed. Real-time data collection campaigns were done near the sea at Sanya with the Doppler delay mapping receiver mounted on an airplane. Some preliminary experiment results show that the DDMR could work well and can be used in ship object detecting. [Termes IGN] villeRésumé : (auteur) During last decade, needs for high resolution land cover data have been growing. Such knowledge is namely often required in environment monitoring studies. Thus, to answer these needs, national mapping or environment agencies, in many countries, have undertaken the production of such large scale national land cover database. Nevertheless, these databases provide a general classification and may not suit some specific (often new) applications requiring a semantic or geometric finer level of details. That is to say that, on one hand, additional land cover classes should sometimes be specified, whereas, on the other hand, some existing classes should be delineated at a finer level.
More particularly, in urban areas, knowledge concerning very high resolution land cover and especially material classification are necessary for several city modelling applications. Most of these applications are still experimental scientific ones in various fields such as micro-meteorology, hydrology, pollutants flow monitoring and ground perviousness monitoring. Thus, knowledge concerning the roofing materials or the different kinds of ground areas (pervious, vegetated, impervious…) are required. Airborne remote sensing techniques appear to be convenient for providing such information at a large scale since no existing map contains such information. However, remote sensing imagery of urban environments from airborne acquisitions namely still remains a major scientific issue, since on one hand, urban areas are characterized by a high variety of materials, and on the other hand, results provided by most of the traditional processing methods based on usual red-green-blue-near infrared multispectral images remain limited for such applications. A possible way to improve classification results is to enhance the imagery spectral resolution using superspectral or hyperspectral imagery.
Thus, the present experiments are part of a work aiming at designing a future superspectral camera system dedicated to high resolution urban land cover classification applications, and especially material mapping. The choice of optimal band sets will here be processed from a set of airborne hyperspectral data.
A data acquisition campaign named UMBRA has recently been carried out thanks to the French collaboration of IGN and ONERA. Data have been captured over two French cities chosen for their difference in building architecture, urbanization planning and their variety in urban material. Airborne images have been acquired simultaneously by multispectral and hyperspectral cameras with a ground sampling distance ranging from 0.12m for multispectral to 1.6m for hyperspectral in the SWIR channels. The images were radiometrically and geometrically calibrated and have a noticeable low signal-to-noise ratio.

[Termes IGN] série de FourierRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a new family of rigorous and flexible mathematical self-calibration additional parameters (APs) for airborne camera calibration. Photogrammetric self-calibration can – to a very large extent – be considered as a function approximation problem in mathematics. It is shown, that algebraic polynomials are less desirable for designing self-calibration APs due to the highly correlated terms. Based on the mathematical approximation theory, we suggest that Fourier series be the optimal mathematical basis functions for self-calibration purpose. A whole family of so-called Fourier self-calibration APs is developed, whose solid theoretical foundations are the Laplace’s Equation and the Fourier Theorem. Fourier APs are orthogonal, rigorous, flexible, generic and efficient for calibrating the image distortion of frame-format airborne cameras. The high performance of Fourier APs is demonstrated in many practical tests on different camera systems, including the DMC, DMCII, UltracamX, UltracamXp and DigiCAM cameras. We illustrate the theoretical and practical advantages of the Fourier APs over the physical APs and the popular polynomial APs. The joint applications with physical models are promoted for specific applications as well. On account of the theoretical justifications and high practical performance, Fourier APs should be preferred for in situ airborne camera calibration. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a novel low-cost mini-UAV-based laser scanning system, which is also capable of performing car-based mobile mapping. The quality of the system and its feasibility for tree measurements was tested using the system’s laser scanner. The system was constructed as a modular measurement system consisting of a number of measurement instruments: a GPS/IMU positioning system, two laser scanners, a CCD camera, a spectrometer and a thermal camera. An Ibeo Lux and a Sick LMS151 profile laser were integrated into the system to provide dense point clouds; intensities of the reflected echoes can also be obtained with the Sick LMS. In our tests, when using a car as a platform, the pole-type object extraction algorithm which was developed resulted in 90% completeness and 86% correctness. The heights of pole-type objects were obtained with a bias of -1.6 cm and standard deviation of 5.4 cm. Using a mini-UAV as the platform, the standard deviation of individual tree heights was about 30 cm. Also, a digital elevation model extraction was tested with the UAV data, resulting in a height offset of about 3.1 cm and a standard deviation of 9.2 cm. With a multitemporal point cloud, we demonstrated a method to derive the biomass change of a coniferous tree with an R2 value of 0.92. The proposed system is capable of not only recording point cloud data giving the geometry of the objects, but also simultaneously collecting image data, including overlapping images and the intensity of laser backscatter, as well as hyperspectral and thermal data. Therefore we believe that the system is feasible for new algorithm and concept development and for basic research, especially when data is recorded multitemporally.
