In chapter 2 the model foundation of satellite geodesy is described (the terrestrial reference system including deformations, the inertial system and the dynamics of artificial earth satellites, the measuring process and equipment calibration, tropospheric and ionospheric refraction, model optimization and evaluation). Special aspects of the adjustment-process are discussed in chapter 3 (observation equations, rank defects and the stability of the solution, the stochastic model, . solution of large normal equation systems, description of developed parameter ' estimation software). In chapter 4 the determination of coordinates from laser-ranging measurements is investigated in practice (determination of the inner geometry of global networks, accuracy of datum parameters, regional networks and baselines, determination of tectonic motions). Here, simulated data and LAGEOS data of the MERIT campaign are used. The determination of regional networks using Doppler observations, based on the data of the campaign WEDOC-2, is treated in chapter 5. The coordinate determination of satellite geodesy in relation to broader concepts of geodesy and geodynamics (terrestrial reference system for earth rotation determination, geodynamical parameters and processes, satellite navigation, geodetic networks, crustal deformations) is discussed in chapter 6. Chapter 7 summarizes the main results and conclusions. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laserIndex. décimale : 30.60 Géodésie spatiale Résumé : (Auteur) Simultaneous Range Differences (SRD's) to Lageos are obtained by dividing the observing stations into pairs with quasi-simultaneous observations. For each of those pairs the station with the least number of observations is identified, and at its observing epochs interpolated ranges for the alternate station are generated. The 3RD observables are obtained by subtracting the actually observed laser ranges of the station having the least number of observations from the interpolated ranges of the alternate station. On the basis of these observables semidynamic single baseline solutions have been performed. The aim of these solutions is to further develop and implement the SRD method in the real data environment, to assess its accuracy, its advantages and disadvantages as related to the range dynamic mode methods, when the baselines are the only parameters of interest.
Baselines, using simultaneous laser range observations to Lageos, have also been estimated through the purely geometric method. These baselines formed the standards of comparison in the accuracy assessment of the SRD method when compared to that of the range dynamic mode methods. On the basis of this comparison it was concluded that for baselines of regional extent (i.e., up to 3700 km) the SRD method is very effective, efficient and at least as accurate as the range dynamic mode methods, and that on the basis of a simple orbital modeling and a limited orbit adjustment.
The SRD method is insensitive to the inconsistencies affecting the terrestrial reference frame and simultaneous adjustment of the Earth Rotation Parameters (ERP's) is not necessary. Therefore, this method offers an inexpensive alternative for projects designed to study regional plate tectonic motions.Numéro de notice : 13139 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Monographie Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=54894 Réservation

[Termes IGN] rétroréflecteurRésumé : (Auteur) Abstract Infrared radiation from the earth may be the principal reason for the decay of Lageos' orbit. The radiation heats up the laser retroreflectors embedded in Lageos' aluminum surface. This creates a north-south temperature gradient on the satellite. The gradient in turn causes a force to be exerted on Lageos because of recoil from photons leaving its surface. The delayed heating of the retroreflectors due to their thermal inertia gives the force a net alongtrack component which always acts like drag. A simple thermal model for the retroreflectors indicates that this thermal drag accounts for about half the observed average along-track acceleration of -.3 x 10-12 m S-2. The contribution from the aluminum surface to this effect is negligible. The infrared effect cannot explain the large observed fluctuations in drag which occur mainly when the orbit intersects the earth's shadow.
